We booked an overnight 2-day tour with Odesseys and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Our guide, Nikki was fun, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of Kangaroo Island. We were part of a small group tour so were able to move around quickly and quietly, allowing for close encounters with koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, wallabies and many birds including the glossy black cockatoo. We also saw many Australian sea lions and and fur seals, Admirals Arch and the Remarkable Rocks.
We stayed overnight at the Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge, which was a lovely hotel with an excellent dining room.
Nikki’s lunches were excellent, served on a tablecloth with China dishes and even included wine! My only criticism of the entire tour was the use of disposable plastic water and pop bottles which seemed to contradict the environmental consciousness of this tour company. They should try to come up with an environmentally friendly solution, knowing how detrimental plastics are to such a fragile marine ecosystem.
A thoroughly enjoyable 2 days. I’d highly recommend Kangaroo Island Odysseys and especially Nikki as they’re able to guide you to sites not accessible to the general public.
2 thumbs up!

Kangaroo Island Spirits

South Australia's first boutique distillery, Kangaroo Island Spirits is producing award winning Gin and a number of liqueurs which utilise local and native ingredients. The cellar door offers free tastings in a rustic but personal setting. Great coffee or have a cocktail and platter of local produce in our Gin Garden.

I really liked the whiskey barrel gin but felt it was over priced.
They do not seem to be able to cope with small groups arriving at the same time - we went twice and it was the same both time. You are greeted with 'we'll be with you soon' but they weren't. And then part way through your tasting they move to another customer and just leave you.

This tour is worth travelling to KI for in itself! It was just magic and absolutely beautiful. I've met dolphins in captivity before but it's nothing like swimming with a massive pod of them free and happy in their natural environment including a baby dolphin. Andrew is great fun, knowledgable and a true local. The water was clear and a beautiful temperature and we had plenty of opportunities to swim with the gorgeous dolphins multiple times. Also, these guys went above and beyond to get me and my family from Penneshaw (off a cruise ship) to Emu Bay so we could join the tour. Bring life jackets if your kids are not confident swimmers and make sure you've all gone to the toilet before the tour as there isn't one on the boat. Thanks again guys, absolutely loved it and hope to do this again sometime!

Pelican Feeding

Reviewed By Tracey T - Brisbane

It was great to see these very large birds up close. The information and banter of the presenter was both fun and informative. A good chance for some wildlife photography.
However, anyone attending should be aware there is an expected charge of $5 per head. No sign is displayed showing this, and we were not told until the show was under way making it awkward to leave. The presenter also abused anyone who didn’t pay (including those who may not have spoken English and may not have understood his demands - or those who had not brought money with them) which we felt was inappropriate considering the lack of ‘price’ advertising. Luckily we had a $10 note on us, but we felt for others and it soured the whole experience.

This is a well run farm with a small shop and café with seats inside and out. I liked the way they labelled their neat rows of lavender with big signs. This was a coffee stop for us and we did enjoy our coffees served by a friendly and helpful young person. The costs were very reasonable.
