Laem Prathap

Reviewed By buksida - Bang Saphan, Thailand

The highlight of our Khanom trip was a little boat journey we took from Laem Prathap. The boat was 1,000 baht to charter and we spent a couple of hours going around the coast looking for wild dolphins. We finally spotted a few, including a rare pink one, they were not fed or coerced in anyway, so it was a great experience to see these creatures in the wild.

Ao Thong Yee

Reviewed By chocdikrab - Frankfurt, Germany

ao thong was a recomment from the owner of our resort and so we took our motocicles after breakfast and went to the deep southend of khanom beach. maybe five kilometer southly from nai plao beach the beachroad ends directly on the beach of ao thong. there is located one single restaurant with camping place and thats all. some longtailboats were around, but no fishermen...also no tourists. this beach is the biggest one of a few Beaches in that area. the other ones are smaller and interrupt with beautiful Rock Formations and they are located maybe 1 kilometer back the road to nai plao. because the main beach had no shadowzones during that daytime we decided to drive back one kilometer to see whats happen on the other beach sections.
we arrived after a few minutes and it was phantasic. a beautiful small sandy beach, big rocks were spread around. the vegetation in the back was wild and lush and one lonely privat house was located in the djungle nearby the road. we found a nice place in the shadow and stayed the whole day.
we had wind and high waves on that day and so we didn´t went into the water, but we saw that the beach doesn´t slope gently to the sea, because the waves broke very close to the beachside.
with the beginning of the lowtide we started a beachwalk over the sections of big rock to the other small untouched Beaches of the area....all together we found 5 small Beaches...one nicer than the other..pure...untouched...lonely.
because there is no Beach Bar it is necessary to bring drinks and food for own.
all the beachsection are natural Beaches...that means stranded goods and plastic trash is around, but also beautiful shells to collect.
we can recomment ao thong and the small Beaches in that area very much. we had a great day with robinson crusoe feeling and great views. when we are back in khanom we will be there again.

Khanom's Saturday Night, Walking Street Night Market

Reviewed By chocdikrab - Frankfurt, Germany

the khanom saturday nightmarket is well known in the whole region and it seemed that all the thai poeple came to celebrate this evening together. the market is located on the Main Street of khanom and before sunset already full of people. it was very lively, but not noisy or crowded the whole time...we tried a lot of extraordinary streetfood...everything was very good and tasty and realy cheap. also insects were available, but we didn´t tried.
further realy a lot of clothes and shoes were in the offer...used or new. the khanom saturday nightmarket is with nearly 100% frequentated by thaipeople...we didn´t saw any souvenier shop, because we even saw only 4 tourists the whole evening, it was unbelieveble...we were nearly alone in the thai population. khanom is very untouched and this was the reason, because we went there. also english is not spoken so often and so good like in the touristic rest of Thailand. the people are pure and the life is more simple.
the atmosphere at the khanom saturday nightmarket was quiet and peaceful...it was very interesting to dive into the simple life of the normal local people, who are real friendy and helpful, because they are like that and they don´t do this because of the money.
the khanom saturday nightmarket was without question one of the highlights during our stay in Thailand this year. we can recomment this weekly event very much. back to basic...back to the roots of the thai population!

The Green Room Khanom

At The Green Room Khanom we offer traditional Thai massage with a SPA feeling at reasonable prices. Our massages are carried out by professional massage therapists who learned the art of Thai massage and have many years of experience. As much as we value professional healthcare we also struggle hard to add some SPA feeling. Your enjoyment is our highest priority. Come and experience the difference

All over Khanom you can get a very good massage. In Khanom massage places the "happy end" is usually not available and therefore the massage is traditional and of high quality. However this massage shop stands out because it is the cleanest massage shop (they claim to change sheets for every customer), lovely decorated and with relax music - all of this you won't find in other massage shops in Khanom. Also the beds have holes for the face when you lie on your belly. So I highly recommend to relax your body and mind there, the overall experience is fantastic. I recommend to massage with the owner "Thewa" and make an appointment upfront.

Samed Choon Waterfall

Reviewed By chocdikrab - Frankfurt, Germany

the owner of our resort recomment the samed choon waterfall, which is well posted from the main road but at the end difficult to find and to reach, because the road is heavy to drive for the last two a half kilometer.
it beginns with a nice plained road and it ends in a djungletrail de luxe. the trail is not plained with big holes and washed out lines and at the end very steep. there the thai people made two asphaltstripes for the cars, which are maybe 30 centimeter higher than the rest of the ground. motocicle drivers should use a low gear and take attention very much. at the end of the trail a small sign shows the direction to the waterfall. over a small djunglepath down we arrived after 30 meters the big pool of the waterfall. a wall was built up and so the waterfall fillded up a big pool with a great view over the djungle till the coastline of khanom beach. as we came there were 4 other tourists around and we had a nice smalltak, after one a half hour they left and we were alone the whole day. we had Sunshine and no cloud was up in the sky and we enjoyed the coolness of the water very much. it was great to be alone in that great nature with all its extraordinary views. we stayed till the late afternoon. with the sinking sun the shadows of the djungle trees grew longer and the pool was in the shade finally. we took at least some nice photos and then we packed our belongings to drive down high concentrated that monkey trail of road we came up a few hours ago. we survived and we were very happy that we´ve been there.
we can recomment the samed choon waterfall very much. we had a great day in the middle of the djungle and we enjoyed the nature very much. it was great to feel the atmosphere of this extraordinary place. a mixture between poolfeeling and djungletrip.
