Enjoyed the park apart from having my water bottle snatched from behind by a monkey. Good experience tho. The walk uphill was ok, wouldn't say the view is breath-taking. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my visit. There are people paid to feed monkeys. I think you can talk to them as they seems to know their behavior.

Qingyan Ancient Town

I was hoping people there at least dress up like ancient times to give better "feel" of the city. It is becoming commercialized. Apart from buildings, it is anything but "ancient"... you see vendors selling "angry birds" toys, handphone covers etc. Wouldn't say it is the best place to visit.

In the past this park must have had great flower Gardens. There are some quite nice statues around though. The park is not really maintained. Some areas are more on the wild side, which has its own beauty. At the lake we saw guys fishing. You can walk "walk over water" on stone blocks.
Of course there are joyrides for the kids. We went during the week and they were closed. There were also a lot of woman offering food on small grill tables. I am sure this is a nice experience but needs some extra time. For what it's worth there is also a hotel, which to me looked a bit out of shape. We encountered some women making little kids shoes by hand. I paid RMB 20 for a pair.
We combined the visit to this park with our trip to Qingyan Old Town since it was on the way from Guiyang.
Entrance fee was RMB 6 p. P.

Have seen other reviews and some claim that could not find what to do. During my visit I found groups of minorities visiting the park , many in their traditional outfits. Miao, Dong and Buying were there visiting with relatives. They were easy and graceful to photograph and you can see easier their authenticity. It is not a commercial spot like many other. You can roam around trails up and down streams decorated with water wheels and small Waterfalls. You can also take tours to visit the caves or enjoy the beautiful gazebos and rural views. All in all it is a day trip to be enjoy. I certainly look forward to my next trip to enjoy again the trails and visitors for new experiences

It is the general location, on the bridge and the surrounding area, which make this attraction interesting. There is not much left of old Guiyang. There are some interesting displays inside. The adjacent temple was closed for repairs.

Cool park, some chinese friends toook me there for barbeque. Little tip: if it is hot do not forget your bathing suit. The water is a little cold but it is really refreshing when it is summer :)

Hongfu Temple

Reviewed By JPDeM - Sherbrooke, Canada

The temple is situated in Qianling park and the combination of these two makes it the place to visit in Guiyang. We took the chairlift to the top of the mountain and had to go down quite a bit to the temple. No signs pointing you to the temple so we had to ask.
Once you get there the temple is quite elaborate. There is a room with a large number of buddhas. You pick one and start counting them until you reach your age. You note the buddha number, get a card at the counter and have a monk tell you about yourself and your future. Pretty busy place on a weekend.

Dongs and Miaos are two of the Minorities living in Guizou province. There are different "tribes" including the one still wearing guns. Excellent view of the habits of these folk groups, although the visits always ended trying to get the most profit from visitors.
Nevertheless can only recommend in case you are in the area. There are Long skirts and short skirts "tribes"
Some photos attached.

Guizhou Provincial Museum

Reviewed By Cragledog - Darwin, Australia

Again worth a look if in Guiyang. A decent small museum, lots of fossils and displays of traditional artifacts. Traditional ladies out the front making batik cloth. The silverware breast plates worn by local minorities were quite unique. The museum has a large gift shop with a good variety, probably priced higher than other places if you want to seek them out, but nonetheless convenient.
