Cathedrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg

This huge Cathedral, Strasbourg's most famous landmark, is an intimidating example of 13th-century Gothic architecture.

Reviewed By GirdleTheEarth - Southend

This Cathedral is apparently the second most visited Cathedral in France, after Notre Dame de Paris. I am not surprised. the building is a mellow red, and the exterior is literally covered with high Gothic carvings. I have never seen anything quite like it. You could spend years studying these statues, and the mind boggles at the skills of the craftsmen who produced them. My husband climbed to the viewing platform and even on a rather dull wintry day enjoyed the views, although with nearly 350 steps be prepared for quite a hike!

WB Champagne

We provide an authentic experience visiting our small family champagne house and vineyards. We want to teach you about champagne whilst letting you discover the wonderful Wafflart-Briet champagne. We are a small champagne house in a tiny village not far from Reims. All of our cellar visits are private and so you are able to ask as many questions as you want! You can also come for short tastings or to buy champagne. We now export our champagne around the world so if you fall in love with it you can buy it at home too!

I am not one to write reviews much if ever but I feel compelled to write one in this case. I booked this tour with Rachel who served as our host. The booking was painless and strait forward. Rachel was flexible as we were driving from Paris to Reims for the the tour. My wife doesn't eat meat and my 2 boys (under 10) were attending. I was concerned that this would be a problem for the tour, but Rachel was fine with all of this.
The Tour was simply OUTSTANDING! Not only did I learn a lot about the Champagne making process, but had a fun in the process. Rachel was so nice and walked us all through the process of Champagne making from Grape to Bottle! We saw the press, grapes, bottling process, as well as tasted several varieties of Champagne! All of this with a great French lunch. We met her and her family and walked away with great memories and fun. My kids even enjoyed it and sampled grape juice from different varieties!
If you plan to attend Reims and are remotely interested in Champagne or even something different from the regular food tasting stuff, I FULLY recommend this. Thank you Rachel a truly enjoyable trip!

About 35-40 min from Sedan, we visited this well preserved historic site in the hills. New reception and museum building, where you can watch a couple of films, get basic information, and buy tickets. Don't miss the guided tour of the underground bunkers, destroyed in May 1940. The tour takes about 90 mins, bring a warm jacket, and solid boots, it can cold, moist, and slippery 35m below ground. Very knowledgeable guide, friendly and well informed. Our tour was in French, but he answered questions in excellent English. Very helpful lady at the reception desk too. Highly recommended.

Great fortifications, large underground complex, bring warm clothing and boots, only 10-12c degrees at the lower levels. Excellent guided tours in the afternoon only, by unpaid volunteers. The tours take 2.5 to 3 hours. Group size 37 persons. Tours in English language at 14:15, and 14:30 in German only. Other times tours in French language only. Check their website. Underground electric train trip included. The guides are not paid, so consider leaving a decent tip. Great piece of military and technical history, the ouvrage was completed 1936, and taken over by the German troops in 1940, and the US army in 1944.

On a rainy January afternoon, we arrived in Nancy and checked into our hotel (des Prelates - see review, lovely hotel) and as we walked the two blocks or so to this square, the sky cleared and the sun came out. The gold covered gates and the ornaments on the buildings were in sharp contrast to the stunning afternoon blue sky. Perfect light for a photo! What a place!

Fort de Mutzig

Built from 1893 to 1916, the Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II represents the beginning of a new era in fortifications conceptions and technologies. Dispersed constructions connected with underground tunnel, iron cupolas, concrete buildings, power plants and electrical supplies for lighting and ventilation... The guided tour shows a full restored collection of original equipments: artillery battery, observation cupolas, power plant, machine gun rooms, troop rooms, kitchen, bakery, hospital, well... The restoration team adds each year a lot of new restored features, many Exhibitions of uniforms, armaments and models.

Reviewed By EricMargolis - Toronto

Speaking as a war correspondent and expert on modern fortifications, Mutzig is spectacular and fascinating. This vast work served as a model for the Maginot Line's engineers. Designed to block any French advance north before WWI. Actually, two main forts and a series of batteries and thick-walled casemates. Well worth a visit. Those going underground be sure to bring a warm coat - average temp 55F. Making another visit this month.

Visiting this village is like walking in a movie decor, except it’s the reality with real people live there. Everything there is manicured and polished and so tourist oriented that the overall impression might be negative but eventually the whole receipt is working and you can’t avoid finding the experience worth the detour!

Our family visited Parc Animalier de Sainte-Croix during a two week European adventure. The park was one of the highlights of our trip. The thing that strikes me the most about the park is that the animals seemed so well cared for and actually loved! They are kept in environments that are designed to be close to what they would experience in their natural habitats. The park is extremely clean. The staff were genuinely concerned about the visitors' and the animals' comfort. We learned so much about the animals - the signage is in several languages, including English, which helped a lot! It's easy to navigate around as the park is well laid out. It was an absolutely perfect way to spend the day! I highly recommend this park for everyone, young and old :)
