One of the best Beaches in the world. Truly amazing and inspiring. Unique setting; perfect semicircle, great sand, crystal water, ancient history (ships from the Trojan war harbored there!), overlooked by a castle... Will never forget climbing to the castle and overlooking the beach from above.

Romanos Beach

Reviewed By JudithSandton - Johannesburg, South Africa

Really beautiful resort hotel with a very long beach, very clean, blue flag, crystal clear water, turtles if you are lucky. Excellent breakfast, fantastic staff, lots of activities should you wish, close to attractions if you feel like venturing further afield. Choice of many restaurants, pricey though. Alcoholic drinks very expensive we found. We had a room with an infinity pool which was stunning, just a bit too close to the swimming pool which was rather noisy as there are lots of kids! Our beach waiter Nestor, was wonderful and looked after us so well. We will be back!

Castle of Pylos

Reviewed By Tim G - Bratton, United kingdom

If you like history then Pylos Castle is definitely worth a visit.
There are several interesting Exhibitions within the castle walls including local marine archeology work and a video telling the story of the naval battle of Navarino.
The castle walls are impressive as are the remaining internal buildings. The view of the Navarino Bay from the top of the castle is stunning.
Make your visit early morning or early evening to avoid the heat of the day. The Castle is open 8am to 8 pm Tuesday to Sunday. Entrance fee at the time of writing this is 6€. There is a small car park in front of the castle.
One word of warning, there is no shop, so if you go in the heat of the day take your own water!!
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

KOA Beach Pool Bar

We return to Koa every year as my in laws have a nearby home. The place is great if a trendy, youthful crowd is your thing. I personally enjoy it as do my husband and children. The bean bag lounges and chairs are awesome and relaxing, the prices are good and the view and food are good. If you want something low-key and quiet, Koa is not for you, though it does draw fewer people (+a lower volume of music) after August 15.

Palace of Nestor

Reviewed By DavidJonesBirmingham - Birmingham

Was travelling with someone not initially as curious as me about Mycenaean Greece and it was this site that really sparked off her interest.
It's a relatively small-ish area, mostly under a large roof that keeps the sun off. You don't walk among the knee-high ruins of the palace walls, as at Mycenae, but rather along walkways suspended over the site. And it's fascinating. The oil jars, the ruins of cups and goblets, a 2,500 year-old *bath*. And the central hearth in the middle of the *megaron*.
It was at Pylos that Carl Blegen uncovered the first Linear B tablets found on the Mainland, beginning a revolution in our understanding of the relationship between Greece, Minoan Crete, and of the Greek language and religious culture.
Unmissable, I'd say.

Niokastro: Pylos Castle

Reviewed By stevebG6121BX - London, United Kingdom

After visiting the impressive Methoni Castle (see separate Review) this morning, my wife stopped off at the Pylos Fortress (known as Neokastro) en route back to the Westin Costa Navarino Resort.
Entrance fees are a little more expensive than Methoni (6 Euros per adult with 50% reduction for over 65s) but the site is just as large. As such, a brochure or map would have been most helpful.
For those prepared to scale the Fortress Walls there is a reward of panaromic views of the Costa Navarino Bay. The Church of Transfiguration of the Saviour is also worth a short visit.

The Bay Course - Costa Navarino

Reviewed By 4iNick - London, United Kingdom

Played both the Bay & Dunes courses in late August 2016, both in good condition and very well maintained. However the views from the Bay Course and the the number of signature holes make this the best of the two in my view, particularly holes 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 12, 13, 16, 17 & 18.
