The view is just breathtaking!!
The area surround it is just gorgeous and it's a great place for a picnic.
This viewpoint is accessible by car (there's enough area for parking). Alternatively, you can hike all the way up (not easy..).
Highly recommended if you are in the Peneda-Geres National Park.

The day trip we spent in the Mountains of Geres yesterday ( 30 August 2017) was an unforgettable experience! Tailor made for our needs as fit pensioners we hiked, we lunched and drove all over the area above Geres with our guide, Carlos.
This area of Portugal is stunning but not for the faint hearted! With the help of a guide we felt confident and knowledgeable by the end of the day. It was the highlight of our 3 day stay in Geres. Well worth saving your pennies for these tours!

Ancient pilgrimage place devoted to the founder of Benedictine congregation. Lots of devoted visit asking for health miracles. Despite the religious leit motiv it is a place with a superb view. Worth the visit if near by. Very popular and folk market too.

We booked a half day horseback ride for six people online. Miguel Faria and the staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Due to rain on the day of the ride, Miguel changed the itinerary to have lunch at a local restaurant instead of the usual picnic. This worked out well. We very much enjoyed the route that the ride took. The horses were well cared for and easy to ride. Miguel is willing to do whatever it takes to meet his clients needs. This day was a highlight of our trip to Portugal.

Three of us had a beautiful day of guided hiking, plus a fabulous homemade gourmet lunch, with Geres4U. The scenery was wonderful--pristine Waterfalls into very green, clear pools, cascades, expansive vistas. Our guide was the best ever, very knowledgeable, warm and friendly, and proud of the beautiful area in which he had grown up. Lunch at the resort was part of the deal, and it was unforgettable. On top of all this, there were no crowds, just a few other tourists and locals here and there. Highly recommended!

Pulled at high speed by a motor boat on an inflatable sofa - Fabulous. The kids loved it. The parents loved it as they sat in comfort on the boat as Pete and his son Ricardo pay a lot of attention to safety, whilst giving the kids the thrills and tumbles they delighted in. Cannot recommend it enough, but make sure you choose 'Pete's place' though. Not for the faint hearted but our 8 year old and her 13 and 15 year old brothers nominated it as the highlight of a lovely holiday

I went here on the strength of the other reviews on this site. It's certainly worth the journey. We came up from the Portuguese side and the drive up was incredible. Steep winding roads have beautiful views of the Valleys below.
The location itself was much easier to walk to than we had envisaged. Other reviews suggest that it's a long walk. It isn't. In fact, you can see the pool from the road.
Okay, you have to park about 500m away up the hill but once you've walked back down, the pool is a short 100m walk up a stone path and then a slightly tricky scrabble down the side of the falls.
My two boys 11. & 10. braved the cold water and dived in but that was enough for them.
If you fancy a walk you can continue up the stone path for a good few miles.

Water Park Geres

The Water Park Geres is a spectacular inflatable park in the middle of the Caniçada dam. You can use all the entertainments that you fancy, some are more difficult and some are easier. They all have one thing in common: jumping into the warm water of the river. Start by trying to climb the iceberg and slip from the top 4,5m. And then try to walk 6m on roller without falling. Or jump to the giant pillow that works as a catapult and make your friends fly! All this totally safe, with life jacket and permanent monitor. Have fun !!

This place has went high onto my list of places to return to. It was excellent. We were there on a really warm day and walked down from the village to the spectacular view over the lake. There are a few places to sort your activities lakeside along the lovely beach. We rented a lovely big white swan pedal boat for an hour and happily 'swanned' around the beautiful lake, while jet skis and boats whizzed by. The lake is pristine clean and in the most idyllic location imaginable.
