Geneva State Park

Reviewed By dclmom34 - Statesville, North Carolina

A quick stop on our way to drop our daughter off at college, we wanted to get out of the car for a few minutes and stretch our legs. We followed the signs to the Breakwater Beach area and found a beautiful beach at the end of the parking lot. It was early on Saturday morning and at the end of the season, so the beach was pretty empty. It's a rocky beach, but nice to walk on. The bathhouse/restrooms were really clean. We were glad that we stopped by.

Lakehouse Inn & Winery

Situated on the southern shore of Lake Erie, our Ohio winery offers fine wines in a spectacular setting. Spend a summer afternoon or evening sampling The Lakehouse Inn wines and enjoying an array of light meal choices, while absorbing the fabulous views of Lake Erie and Mother Nature's breathtaking sunsets. During the fall and winter months, the winery is moved to the restaurant, Crosswinds Grille, to allow for additional seating. Guests may enjoy wine and meals from the bar or a table overlooking Lake Erie.

The Lakehouse Inn and Winery sits above Lake Erie with beautiful views of the water. Dinner on the outside patio/deck, was terrific. The servers, Jennifer and Brittany, were wonderful, very upbeat and friendly. Reasonably priced, the food was great. Fried perch was fresh and crispy, the wine was well made and quite good. Great choice for lakeside dining in a casual atmosphere with beautiful sunsets.

I received a massage/facial combination and a pedicure. They were both really great. The massage/facial was probably one of the best that I have received. I do get massages regularly and I was very pleased. The massage therapist was very in tuned with what I needed. The extras like the aroma, warm towels, etc enhanced the experience . Then we got to top it off with a lunch on the patio. Everyone there was very welcoming and professional. I would definitely return.

Geneva on the Lake has a pub crawl during the summer months. You visit 12 pubs and have a grand time meeting people that are also doing the same. I like Sportsterz as there is such a nice mix of people, young, old, bikers, and all fun loving. Don't miss a chance to visit. Great live music as well. After visiting all 12 pubs you then received a tshirt from High Tide.

My husband and I went to this dinner theater the other evening to see Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Story." We had no idea what to expect. The theater seated 60 people, so it was very intimate. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by friendly cast, who also served as the waitstaff, who interacted with guests in between acts and couldn't have been nicer.. The acting, singing voices, and costumes were phenomenal. The food was good, drinks were outstanding. They included the audience in a few of the songs and a couple of bit parts. The performance itself truly exceeded our expectations. Would love to go back, it was worth the hour and 20 minute drive.

Best Coast Water Sports

We are located in Geneva-On-The-Lake, Ohio offering Jet Ski Rentals (Wave Runners, Sea Doos), SUP Rentals- Stand Up Paddle Boards and Kayak Rentals!

Reviewed By svact - Cleveland, Ohio

This is not a bad little place to go canoeing or kayaking, you just need to match your expectations to the Experience.

I had envisioned a kayak trip like Mohican where you go down a lengthy River. This is simply not that type of experience.

When we were there the original Landing normally used to launch the boat was closed due to the high water and the fact that the area was flooded out. This took some maneuverability, as you had to walk down and uneven path of rocks, leading down to the water.

The Kayaks are nice, and the staff was prompt. We had a two-seater for one hour which was $40, which is competitive with other rentals.

Once there, you have two options for your canoe/kayak trip: One is to kayak in Lake Erie and the other is to go down a small River, which the day we were there consisted of about a 15-minute paddle ride, returning by the same Route.

To be fair, I am not sure the short 15 minute distance was due to the high water or not, but the route had several mature trees down, making the River impassable. (you may want to check with them, in advance)

Like I said before it's not a bad little place, and family run. We just went with the wrong expectation which is why I'm taking the time to write this.

Note: Book online or in advance because they have to drive to this State Park to bring you the kayak. Lastly, since this NOT a storefront OR kiosk location BE SURE to buy water before you go out on your journey. You can purchased at the Office of the State Park which is a short two minute drive from the area in which you launch the boats.

Also they offer a 2 hour rental as well. One final thought = If you DOwant to go from the river to the Lake Erie, you do have to carry your canoe for a few feet over some rocks.
