Today we visited the museum Kunsthalle in Emden, Germany, for a very interesting double exhibition: the American Dream. Paintings in the era from 1965-today. The counter part of the exhibition (1945-1965) is now in Drents Museum in Assen (the Netherlands). In total it is a great exhibition, giving a comprehensive overview of how these era are seen by the exposed artists. Both parts of the exhibition are situated in extraordinary buildings, aswell in Emden as in Assen. Go there and admire yourselves both Exhibitions & buildings. You will not regret it.

This is a fabulous collection of displays for the history buff. Currently a topical (refugees) display (with explanations in German and Dutch) on the religious refugees who came to Emden in the 16th cent. from the rest of Europe (including England) when it was a relatively tolerant place. For the brass musician: a collection of horns played from the tower to signal that wall was well. For the weapons/guns historian the fabulous collection of matchlock guns and bladed weapons from the municipal armoury. For the geographer a time-line display of the reclamation of land from the sea by dykes and canals. For the anthropologist: the remains of the red-headed Bernuthsfeld man (d. about 700 ad and preserved in a bog). Don't miss the tiny silver masterpieces or the town silver/gold cups - my favourite was the Caspar Hentx gold over silver cup in the shape of a ship under sail with a roistering crew in the poop deck.

This small museum is an actual concrete bunker of 15 levels,one of many built in the Emden area,this one to hold about 380 people during Allied bombing during World War 2.Emden is a shipping port and was a prime target .The museum is filled with memorabilia from the bunker days and tells the story of the period in mostly German language,but there is some explanation in English and there is a film with an English translation which the museum staff will happily play for English visitors.It was easy for us to imagine being in the bunker with bombs exploding all around us and the terror of war which even today appears ,mankind has still not learnt the lessons of the past.We would have loved a few more English translations ,which for us ,would have made our visit even more interesting,but I do appreciate that they may not get a lot of English visitors.

Knapp eine Stunde dauert die Fahrt. Sie ist sehr informativ und Ihren preis wirklich wert, wir fanden es sehr kurzweilig und hatten den Umfang in der Form gar nicht erwartet.
Wirklich zu empfehlen, auch derPreis ist fair!

Beim Betreten des Schiffes denkt man zunächst, dass man sich in einem offenen Restaurant befindet; dies sollte man bei guten Wetter aber erst nach dem Besuch des Inneren tun.
Das Schiff selbst bietet einen kompetenten Einblich in die Geschichte der Seefahrt aus Sicht der Küstensicherung und der Schiffsssicherung. Schön ist auch eine aktuelle Beschreibung aller Seezeichen der Region, die wohl ständige auf dem Laufenden gehalten wird. Es ist schon beeindruckend, mit welchen Mitteln sowohl Schiffe auf den rechten Weg geleitet wurden, bzw. wenn es nicht geklappt hat, gerettet wurden. Schade ist, dass der Maschinenraum nur wenig gezeigt wird. Interessant ist der Unterschied bzgl. der Unterkünfte in Relation zur Marine. Ein Besuch ist in jedem Fall interesssant!

Hier gibt es Original Ostfriesentee und jede Menge leckeres oder hübsches Tee-Zubehör. Der Laden ist klein aber fein, man findet viele schöne Mitbringsel oder Geschenke und kann auch Tee probieren.
Schade, dass ich in Süddeutschland lebe, ich wäre dort sicher Stammkundin.

ie Galerie wird vom Künstler Helmut Müller geführt. Welcher auch andere Künstler ab und zu bei sich ausstellen läßt. Der Takt ist ungefähr alle 6 Wochen im Wechsel. Die Galerie ist einen Besuch immer wert. Die Galerie hat eine sehr ambizunierte Kuratorin , die mit fleiss und Sachverstand dabei ist.

Ein kleines aber feines Museum mit tlw. wunderschönen Exponaten. Das Personal ist durchweg "seeerfahren" und kann auf fst jede Frage antworten. Vorurteilsfrei werden hier sowohl Ausstellungsstücke der sog. christlichen Seefahrt als auch der Marine gut gemischt präsentiert. Ein schönes Museum, dass etwas abseits gelegen doch auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert ist.

Wenn man einen entspannten Tag in der Saune verbringen möchte ist man hier gut aufgehoben! Die Preise sind okay und man kann von der Sauna aus auch ins Schwimmbad. Wobei das meiner Meinung nach nicht sehr groß ist, da lohnt sich die Sauna schon wirklich eher!
