We purchased a Go Ticket for £52 which gave us unlimited travel on the Buses, Steam Railway, Electric Tram, Groudle Glen Railway and the small Mines Train in Laxey. We found all the public transport workers and volunteers on the railway very helpful and went out of their way to help us. We managed to see the whole of the Island during our 11 day stay. We stayed in Douglas which made local transport a viable option.

We are regular visitors with one or more of our grandchildren and always enjoy seeing and feeding the horses and donkeys. The shop provides containers of food for the animals while the cafe looks after the food and drink needs for us. There are some sheds with books and bric a brac for sale while others contain rocking horses for use by children.

Douglas Bay Horse Tramway

Reviewed By mrcox21 - Oxford, United Kingdom

We visited in spring, in cold damp weather. However the horse-drawn tram was great fun. It moves along quite fast, and the horses only have to do a few trips before being rested back in their stable. The tramway connects the ferry terminal to the Manx electric railway terminus, and passes some interesting attractions along the promenade (eg the theatre) . The motorists are very polite and wait patiently for tram passengers to get on and off

We were staying on the Isle of Man for 4 days so called into the welcome centre to get information about things to do. Very helpful staff advised us on the various things to see and do, and we suggested we bought a Go Explore card which saved us money.

Steam Packet Company

Reviewed By gavin678 - Radstock, United Kingdom

The rating I've given is largely due to the helpfulness and professionalism of the staff working for the Steam Packet. We recently travelled on Manannan from Liverpool to the IOM and back again via the same route. I've been visiting the island on a semi-regular basis for the last 50 years, man and boy, and we like to take our own car so have no choice but to use the Steam Packet. It's always been a bit expensive on board so we tend not to order food. On our last couple of visits we've upgraded to the Premium Lounge, so we get reserved comfortable seats, complimentary beverages and newspapers, that sort of thing. The day before we left Liverpool my wife had injured her knee and would have struggled with the stairs up from the car deck but the Steam Packet staff were very helpful in assisting us with use of the lift to and from the top deck. When we arrived back in Liverpool at the end of our holiday my wife forgot her tablet and left it on board in the Premium Lounge. However, a phone call to the Steam Packet the next morning resulted in our lost property being promptly identified and returned to us by post with no charge, which was great. I spent about the first 30-45 minutes of each voyage on the outside deck and wasn't troubled by anyone smoking, in fact smoking (including vaping) is prohibited on all parts of the vessel. During our voyages the Premium Lounge attendants were helpful and attentive to passengers, particularly those feeling unwell, and the crew supervising the car deck were very professional at getting the vessel loaded and unloaded promptly and efficiently. Looking forward to returning to the island via IOM Steam Packet again next year!
