Boscastle (Cornish: Kastel Boterel) is a village and fishing port on the north coast of Cornwall, England, UK, in the civil parish of Forrabury and Minster (where the 2011 Census population was included) . It is 14 miles (23 km) south of Bude and 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Tintagel. The harbour is a natural inlet protected by two stone harbour walls built in 1584 by Sir Richard Grenville and is the only significant harbour for 20 miles (32 km) along the coast. The village extends up the valleys of the River Valency and River Jordan. Heavy rainfall on 16 August 2004 caused extensive damage to the village.

This 3.6 mile moderate walk follows part of the South West Coast Path from Boscastle along the cliffs bordering the ancient fields of Forrabury, before heading inland through Minster Wood,and then along the Valency Valley. In 2004 these steep-sided valleys funnelled 440 million gallons of water through Boscastle village in 5 hours, causing devastating flooding.

Such steep hike for little legs, the views are stunning and if you're lucky enough to meet the Coastguard Lookout Manager at the Coastguards Lookout Tower then you're in for a treat as he told us about the local history, stunning views and breathtaking too. We saw some Cornish ponies too, we then walked through the Stiches to the Church. Really worth the hike up the Coastal path.

Follow the South West Coast Path on this challenging 5.6 mile walk. Enjoy the spectacular blowhole that booms and foams around low tide in the harbour and the torrent of water streaming over the cliffs at Pentargon Falls. Thomas Hardy met and courted his first wife nearby, and some of his most moving poetry was inspired by the scenery on this walk. Look out for seals below Fire Beacon.

This is a relatively easy and very well marked walk. There is some uphill and back down along the cliffs and it can get muddy in wet weather, so take good boots. The views are excellent and the coastline is stunning and very dramatic, you get very good views of Pentargon Falls too. Definitely recommend.

From the main car park in Boscastle, take the riverside track to follow the river upstream until reaching a wooden footbridge. Cross the bridge and follow the woodland track steeply uphill to find the church. A delightful walk which can be finished by returning along the same track or by taking the quiet road down into the village.

It has been in the picturesque Cornish coastal village of Boscastle since 1961 and is one of Cornwall's most popular museums rated highly on TripAdvisor. The Museum intrigues visitors with its collections of charms, curses, herbs and healing and sea witchcraft. Some of our most popular items are magical tools such as glass knitting needles, objects which were used for scrying such as black mirrors, crystals and crystal balls and our collection of protection talismans made by soldiers in the trenches of World War One. The Museum also has an extensive library with other 7000 books and an archive of documents which can be viewed online or visited by appointment. Food, drinks and dogs are not allowed in the museum.

Boscastle is well worth a visit and the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is a boon to the area and adds to the quirkiness and delightful wonder of this beautiful place. The museum itself holds the most unusual and interesting artifacts, snippets of information, ritual clothing, documents and items stepped in history; it is just a pure, perfect pleasure for someone who has an interest in such things. There is also a nice feel to the place, and don't tell anyone, but I think the staff working there might be real White Witches. :)

The centre has a good array of information on boscastle and it's history, including some quite dramatic helicopter footage of the flooding events, well worth the visit.

I've been visiting Boscastle for a number of years and recommend it for a pleasant walk. There is a large car park at the top of the village from where you can follow the stream which runs through the village to the harbour. Keep to the left for the main harbour wall from where you can also climb the rock steps for a better view out to sea. Keep to the right for the coastal path offering great views of the harbour. A great half day excursion !

We made sure that our holiday in Devon and Cornwall took in this lovely pottery that we had visited before. It is family run with the unique pottery itself being made by the Father & Son. We bought further pieces this time and were very happy with them. Highly Recommended - Enjoy
