A real monument with great works of art: the alter pieces with wings. The church pews are interesting too. Climbing the tower is a treat, because you can see the entire square - one of the most beautiful of the Chech and Slovak Republics.

The most beautiful square of the country. Best to climb the church tower, small fee, and see it from above. Houses are well preserved and restored. After 20.00h the square is not vey lively. None of the houses seems to be occupied. The shops are for tourists because the locals go to the shopping mall with supermarkets.

This is an absolute must. We had seen 10 churches by the time we visited and we were so enthralled by the icons in this museum. What a treasure to be able to see the beautiful art from the 1400s to the present.

Excellent arranging of the show cases, a historic place, and free to go everywhere in the building. The only content-connected remark could be that to two main items no proper attention is given: that the town was settled, developed and governed by german speaking people, and the tremendous influence of the reformation. A good historian would have given these subjects better attention.

There are several plaques on a wall of this outdoor memorial, explaining the history of Judaism in Bardejov. What struck me the most are the numbers: 4200 Jews of the city were deported during the war, only 300 returned afterward. Currently, there are 0 Jews in Bardejov. This memorial is around the corner from what used to be a Synagogue, which is now a hardware store. Awful.
This memorial lists the names of people from various towns in the area who were deported. You can see memorial stones left behind by other visitors, under the names. Over these names is the saying 'every person has a name' which is written in Hebrew, Slovak, and English. At one end of the memorial is a set of train tracks with the Star of David in between, with the words 'never again' also written in the three languages.
