Ramsey Island Nature Reserve

Ramsey Island and Grassholm Island National Nature Reserves are owned and managed by conservation charity the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (rspb). Ramsey's cliffs are perfect for breeding seabirds in spring and summer. Choughs, peregrines and ravens also nest on the sea cliffs and in the island's sea-caves. From May to Sept, bluebells, pink thrift and spring squill carpet the island followed by heather in late summer. In the Autumn grey seals breed and they can be seen on the beaches with their white-coated pups from mid August until October. Spectacular Grassholm Island supports 36,000 pairs of breeding gannets and is the only gannet colony in Wales. The island is a sanctuary reserve with a strict 'no-landing policy, but boat trips circumnavigate the island during the summer months.

St. Davids Escape Room

An exciting 'Crystal maze' style puzzle solving activity suitable for families, kids and adult groups. Now with both an indoor Escape Room and an outdoor 'Low Ropes Escape', you can give escaping a go in rain or shine! The indoor Escape Room is themed around the beautiful St. Davids area - you'll have to work together solving puzzles and games, finding keys and codes and unlocking padlocks in order to escape within the hour! The low-ropes escape course is the first of its kind! Instead of unlocking doors, you’ll be releasing drawbridges, planks and tyres that allow access to new parts of the course. The obstacles are suitable for all ages and abilities; it’s the puzzles that are the real test!

Awesome day out, rain or shine, with both an indoor escape room and outdoor low ropes escape course. We have just returned from the low ropes course (which I believe has been newly created for 2021) and had a fantastic time - so incredibly well thought out. With the owners help, we selected the hard level and some of the challenges really required us to blow the cobwebs off our brains and of course we had a good few laughs along the way too. We were two adults but I think a family or children would love the course too. Really enjoyed the more practical element of the low ropes too. We also did the escape room when we visited St David’s last summer (2020) after our outdoor plans were foiled by bad weather. The escape room was the perfect ‘escape’ from the wet weather - the challenges were so well thought through and kept us entertained for the afternoon! We loved the theme too, but I don’t want to give away any more. Ben the owner and escape room designer is the most helpful and lovely person too! Highly, highly recommend if you’re in the St David’s area and looking for something a bit different and great fun!

St Davids Bishop's Palace

Magnificent medieval palace that rivalled its cathedral for glory There was only one top job for an ambitious cleric in medieval Wales: Bishop of St Davids in Pembrokeshire. A 12th-century pope had decreed that two trips to St Davids were equal to one to Rome – turning it into a centre of pilgrimage for the entire Western world. Thousands flocked to see the shrine of St David in the newly built cathedral. But the bishop’s home was no match for this magnificence. Enter Henry de Gower. Between 1328 and 1347 he turned a building only fit for ‘servants and animals’ into an immense palace. The displayed opening times are our general pattern. Please check the Cadw website for specific times and days, including closures.

Fascinating ruin to wander around, highly recommend having a good walk around followed by food in the cathedral refectory.
