Uttarakhand (English: /ˌʊtəˈrɑːkʌnd/), officially the State of Uttarakhand (Uttarākhaṇḍ Rājya), formerly known as Uttaranchal, is a state in the northern part of India. It is often referred to as the Devbhumi (literally "Land of the Gods") due to many Hindu temples and pilgrimage centres found throughout the state. Uttarakhand is known for the natural environment of the Himalayas, the Bhabhar and the Terai. On 9 November 2000, Uttarakhand became the 27th state of the Republic of India, being created from the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh. It borders Tibet to the north; the Province No. 7 of Nepal to the east; and the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh to the south and Himachal Pradesh to the west and north-west as well as Haryana on its south-western corner. The state is divided into two divisions, Garhwal and Kumaon, with a total of 13 districts. The interim capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun, the largest city of the state, which is a railhead. The High Court of the state is located in Nainital.

What a grand campus. The moment you enter you will surprised by the grandeur and the frolic greenery all around you. Fresh air, tall trees will surely make your walk to the central part of campus much easier. The campus is huge and very picturesque. A good number of bollywood movies have been shot at this campus. There are various museums inside and quite easy to get lost in the big campus, so just keep a track of the streets inside. If you have a private vehicle, roaming around the huge campus would be pretty easy, else walking is the only option I found. Click lots of pictures, lots of greenery and a beautiful serene environment. Relax and enjoy the wow architecture. Its magnanimous. !!

One can click pictures of this old style bridge and trek down to the riverside for more pictures on the stones along the river bed. The view is picturesque.

Tibetan Buddhist Temple

The Tibetan Buddhist monastery, takes you to a different world. It boasts of one of the tallest statues of Lord Buddha in the whole of Asia. The temple and the statue are beautiful with intricate designs that truly depict the Tibetan culture. The vast open lawns make a good place for people to enjoy family picnics and the best part is that they take it most care that the premises remains clean. There are shops inside that sell decoratives, crockery and apparel which is really interesting. Had some great shopping experience here. There are restaurants near by that serve authentic Tibetan food. The surrounding is green with a thick jungle that makes the location even more beautiful. The place gives a sense of calm and is worth visiting.
