Bear Creek Falls

Scenic waterfalls that tumble down into Telluride's box canyon in the San Juan Mountains.

Reviewed By wgm51 - Albuquerque, United States

This is a relatively easy trail - about 2.5 miles to the Falls starting at the end of S. Pine Street. The trail does climb most of the way but is not steep until very near the Falls. It is a beautiful hike and you can walk right up to the base of the Falls at the end. Go early to avoid the crowds since this trail is very popular.

Telluride Mountain Village Gondola

One of the most unique forms of public transportation connects Mountain Village to Telluride offering stunning 360-degree views of the San Juan Mountains that extend as far away as Utah. The gondola, the first and only free public transportation of its kind in the United States opened in 1996 and was initially built to help improve air quality while expanding the ski area. It is entirely free to commuters and sightseers. Since then, it has become a popular attraction for residents and visitors alike, giving them a stunning ride that caps out at 10,540 feet above sea level. Approximately 3 million passenger rides annually – and safely – and more than 50 million passenger trips have been provided since opening day. The gondola operates roughly 287 days each year with routine maintenance scheduled during our shoulder season months. It takes about 12 minutes to get from the Town of Telluride to Mountain Village Village. It takes 3 minutes from Mountain Village Center to Market Plaza.

Can’t say enough about the amazing lesson our family had from Jacqueline. There were five of us and we vary from advanced beginner to advanced intermediate. She was able to teach us all at our level and was also upbeat and fun. Everyone in the family thought that she was amazing and certainly the best ski instructor we had ever worked with. We have taken lessons at Copper, Breckenridge, Steamboat and with other instructors at Telluride and no one compared. Thank you, Jacqueline, for your amazing, helpful and very educational ski lesson. We are all better skiers because of it!!!

Telluride Ski & Golf Club

Keeping your eye on the ball and off the towering peaks surrounding the Telluride Golf Club may be your toughest challenge when teeing off at this breathtaking course, perched 9,500 feet above sea level. This par 70, 6,574 yard, 18 hole mountain resort course is surrounded by the highest concentration of 14,000 foot mountains in the United States. While the breathtaking beauty may be a distraction, the altitude works to your advantage as Telluride's air creates less resistance against the golf ball during flight, translating to longer drives and breathtaking beauty.

Most people visit the Rockies in the winter so they can ski have rum Toddy's be the fireplace in a very cozy environment. For us the last 27 years has been the opposite we love the summers in the high ridge mountains of the Rockies specially in Southwest Colorado in the little village of Telluride. You will never get bored hiking fishing camping and specially golfing at 10,000 feet above sea level. If they wind is to your back sometimes you can reach the 608 yard par five in two. Telluride ski company owns the majestic golf course hiking trails and a Plethora of other activities that includes the arts and music. It is like summer camp for adults and should be experienced at least once. Careful, sometimes that one experience can turn into a lifetime.
