A really interesting and enjoyable place to visit. Although it was a cold blustery February day the welcome was warm and the guided tour round the ship was full of interesting facts and stories. Superb atmospheric cafe and lots of old fashioned quayside workshops. Would be a good day out for children too.

Always clean, tidy, respectful people and great for a good walk. One day the cafe will be open again and that will be a good thing. Cakes and drinks were always great. Very good to dog owners and for kids.

Heugh Battery Museum

The Heugh Battery Museum preserves the only First World War Battlefield in the UK and commemorates the Bombardment of the Hartlepools which took place on 16th December 1914. On site we have a reconstructed trench, lots of large artillery pieces and rifle collection. Our volunteers are very happy to give you a guided tour or answer any questions you have about the collection and the history of the museum site. We have a cafe serving delicious hot and cold food, the cakes and scones are all baked fresh on site. You can pop in to the cafe without visiting the museum. We are fully dog friendly in the museum and cafe, and hope to provide a great day out for you and your family.

We don’t usually do historic sites and museums. We only went in because we were exploring the area and it started to rain. But so glad we did. We spent 90 minutes exploring the museum and found it fascinating. Loads of guns, tanks and other military vehicles. Interesting history about the German attack on Hartlepool in WW1, and the first British soldier to be killed in an attack on British soil. Fascinating reconstruction of a WW1 trench. Exhibition of military arms from muskets right up to the AK47 that is still in use. You can climb the command post for a view over the sea or descend underground to the magazines. Finally, a good cuppa in the cafe. It feels very amateur - but in a good way. The staff and volunteers are all so interested in the site and the exhibits and their enthusiasm shows. Great people, interesting museum and very pleasant seaside location.

That good we went back a 2nd time. Firstly a shoutout to the woman in the cafe who remembered us from first visit, ever so friendly and a decent price. Sorry dont know her name, but fantastic at her job. food lovely. The farm is brill you could easily spend all day here, as well as feeding animals you can walk through the wallabies, tractor ride round, the lad doing it really friendly and staff going in reception when paying. You can buy animals too. Has free crazy golf several kids indoors and outdoor play areas several of them, football golf, ive been to a few farms but this is by far the best, if you are in this area you have to go, free car park too. After our 2nd time, we went and got a annual pass for all 3 of us, £7.50 per adult online and £6.50 kids but annual pass is £30per adult and £25 child so got annual passes and our money for the day visit refunded.
