Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Reviewed By Gracie_Chen - Singapore, Singapore

Impressive aquarium and glad we put that in our itinerary . We went early to avoid the crowd , tourist buses started to come by around 10 am We also encountered a group of students on excursion so the place got crowded quickly . If you are not in a hurry (we are not) , just slowly stroll through the crowd and appreciate the different species of sea life on display. Fav window is of course the Whale Sharks & Giant Mantra Rays .. mesmerizing to see the giants swimming around We greatly enjoyed the place , time well spent P/S : If you intend to visit the Tropical Dream Center , keep the aquarium ticket . You get half price for the Tropical Dream Center entrance ticket

Tropical Dream Center

Many many people trek to Motobu to visit Churaumi aquarium. I would like to invite them and stress the importance for them to spend a few hours in the Tropical Dream center. The facility changes throughout the year in the flowering exhibits specializing in Orchids and different exhibitions from Native species to many different tropical plants. Great exhibits of topiary that represent the zodiac symbols . You can have a light lunch in the facility and walk up the tower to reach a overview of the garden and park. The facility also host educational workshops for children and adults. Lots of photo spots.

Okichan Theater

Reviewed By soyamericanoenhk - Hong Kong, China

The Okichan Theater timetable is well documented on the Aquarium pamphlet and website. There are different time tables for different seasons during the course of the year. From the parking lots of the Park / Aquarium, it's downhill and accessible by a series of escalators or elevators and you can go directly down towards the beach to the Theater. No aquarium ticket required. If you like dolphins, you can easily hang out in this theater area for a few hours and not get bored. There was a food / dessert truck to the left of the stage and vending machines and restrooms to the right of the stage. This aquatic theater has 3 attractions with multiple performances scheduled throughout various times of the day. 1) You can get in line to buy buckets of fish heads to feed the dolphins. 2) There's a performance show like you would find at Sea World. 3) There is a glass wall / underwater area to learn more about dolphins One of the highlights of a 6 day trip

Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum

Reviewed By RKTH - Singapore, Singapore

If you want to know what happened to Okinawa and it’s people during World War II, this is the place. It tells you about the atrocities committed on its people and their suffering during that period from the US invasion as well as Imperial Japan army. The museum closes at 5pm but the park is open 24 hours. The park is huge with a great view of the Pacific Ocean. See pictures. There’s also a Korean memorial monument paying tribute to ten of thousands of Korean who were brought to Okinawa during the war by the Imperial army and were either killed or died in Okinawa. I think this place is a must for first time visitors to Okinawa

We had the best sashimi EVER! Super fresh, cut in front of your eyes, for a mere 1,000¥ The sellers are adorable, they will have you taste preserves and smile, even if you don’t speak English. If you’re famished, go upstairs for the Japanese food court.
