The Rex Cinema

The Rex has one huge screen set in a glorious 1938 art-deco proscenium with the sharpest film projection and clearest non-booming sound anywhere in the world. Throughout, its seating is big and soft. It has been called luxurious. It is better. It is civilized. It reminds us of what we have long stopped expecting from public buildings.

Been a few times and it's always a treat as Berkhamsted is not close to our home. Love sitting down front at a table and getting a cheese and crackers plate. Staff always friendly at box office and bar. Every time I go I wish all cinemas were like this.

We are regulars at the potter project and we have always been welcomed with open arms. The kids have been painting there since they were tiny (now 9 and 5) and they love it! The staff are always really helpful if you're struggling and need some artistic creativity. The coffee and cake are fab and it's a lovely few hours to spend quietly concentrating on your projects!

Only dropped in because shopping had taken longer than expected. Beer was fairly priced and well kept. Food menu was shortish but adequate and the food itself was properly hot and didn't take long to be served. Waitress and bar staff very helpful
