10 Things to do Adventurous in Copenhagen That You Shouldn't Miss

October 3, 2021 Jacquiline Darosa

Copenhagen was once a Viking fishing settlement, and you can still find traces of the Norse explorers here. Visit reconstructed villages, the remains of a 1,000-year-old castle, and museums dedicated to the notorious raiders. Copenhagen also features a blend of modern architecture and historical artifacts such as the Round Tower observatory – a wonderful example of 17th-century architecture. Art galleries, narrow streets, canals, parks, and Baroque churches round out the city’s cultural attractions.

The online booking was smooth. The game master was friendly, enthusiastic and informative. We chose the theme Alcatraz with the highest difficulty. The puzzles and riddles were smart. Required a very well coordinated team effort. We all enjoyed the adrenaline and the experience. Planning to go back to try different themes.

We had a great experience as a group of 6 in Sherlock. Most were new to the escape room experience so were guided very well by our gamemaster. I would reccomend Sherlock to the more experienced escape roomer or as a team building exercise.

Gure lehen esperientzia izan da Escape Room batetan,... 5eko familia bat gera, 15, 13 eta 11 urteko semelabekin. Zalantzak genituen hizkuntzaren inguruan, baina oinarrizko ingles batekin ondo moldatu gera. Allan oso atsegina eta gogotsu azaldu da gurekin, eta Salaren inguruan pista desberdinak jarraituz, eta lan taldea eta intuizioa erabiliz (pista extra gutxi batzuk eskatuta ere) lortu genuen lehen gela 60’ak baino lehen gainditzea. Hainbeste gustatu zitzaigun, hurrengo egunean errepikatu degula, bigarrengo gela eginez. Eta denbora hobetuz! Guztiz gomendagarria!! Gure ikurriña hantxe gelditu da lekuko. It has been our first in a an Escape Room. We are a family of five, our children are 15,13 and 11. We had doubts about the language, but we have managed with a basic level of english. Allan has been very kind and inspiring, and about the room, following different clues, intuition and teamwork ( we asked for a couple of extra clues) we managed to solve the enigma of the room before the 60 available minutes. We liked it so much, that we repeat it next day, facing and solving a new room. And improving our mark!! We really recommend it! Our basque flag is in the hall of fame as a witness.

Medical Museion

Exploring, understanding and treating the body has always been the job of medicine. At Medical Museion we explore what medicine means for our lives – in the past, present and future. Medical Museion is a museum for everyone who has a body and is curious about how it is has been understood and treated, from Antiquity to Genetics. Exhibitions at Medical Museion draw on the museum’s vast collection of historical objects. However, you can also encounter cutting edge medical research and practice. The exhibitions take you on a journey through the world of medicine from historical understandings of our bodies to current challenges in public health such as obesity. The Body Collected (opened in 2015) lays out how medicine has collected the human body for research and teaching throughout history, running up to the present day. Guests are invited to join one of our guided tours (included in admission price) for a general introduction to the exhibitions, however, we also encourage you to explore the museum on your own. Do make sure to check out the museum’s calendar for special events, including Evening Consultations. Medical Museion is a university museum where scholars do research in science communication and medical humanities, often based in or contributing to the exhibitions. Many of the museum’s activities are experimental - both in format and content. Examples include the open collection room for Psychiatry, and the contemporary research focus of Room for Ageing. The Royal Surgical Academy Medical Museion is based in the buildings of the old Surgical Academy from 1787. Traces of the past are still evident in the exhibition rooms. At the centre of the museum is the anatomical theatre in which generations of medical student witnessed dissections of corpses and learned about anatomy. The anatomical theatre is still used for public lectures, doctoral defences and teaching. Medical Museion also hosts concerts, performance art and theatre in its historical surroundings, and arranges public events based on the exhibitions.

The medical Museion is a combined museum and a research unit with a lot of history. The building has a really special atmosphere, with its vast collection of medical artefacts and materials, as well as the well kept rooms. Stepping in to the building was a treat on its own. It was definitely worth the visit.

Location: Located in Chirstianshavn, which is easily accessible and can lead on nicely to Freetown Christiana or a Canal Tour. Price: Free with the Copenhagen Card - If you're planning on doing lots of tourist attractions or using public transport, this is a fantastic purchase from 54Euro+. Otherwise, this is 40DK per adult. Definitely a must-do activity, the views are amazing and better than those as Rundetaarn. This attraction will test your physical fitness as you climb 400-450 steps to the very top - doesn't sound like much, but when you realise that the nice stairs at the entrance turn into steep wooden steps that decrease in size and wrap around the slightly humid and stuffy tower, then you realise how big 400 actually is. There are several points to stop as you walk up the tower, but be mindful that the large bells ring hourly, and you could be right next to them. The last few steps are akin to a ladder with a smaller door to exit from. Once out, you can walk around and view the scenery or you can continue to walk up the copper outdoor steps to the peak. If you're slightly larger or physically unfit, I would think twice about this attraction, especially in hotter weather as the tower itself is very humid. There is no elevator and once you're up, you have to come down.
