Every day is your way. This tour takes you to the top of a dramatic mountain road (made easy on our electric bikes!). You'll then picnic at the top in ancient woodlands with breathtaking views. Then it's down down downhill all the way through a stunning natural valley and on to Ireland's only fjord, Killary Harbour. Here we can catch a boat to sample some locally-farmed mussels with Simon and Kate and take in the dramatic scenery of the mountains plunging into the sea, maybe wave at passing dolphins, otter, salmon or other wildlife along the way. You can opt for a local seaweed bath massage before heading home. Had too much fun, food or Guinness to cycle home? Relax, we‘ll drive. This trip is for making memories and taking home more than just pictures. For those who tried the Bangor Trail last year and raved about it, this is every bit as good!

Inclusions: Gourmet lunch with local cuisine. Quality electric and regular bikes. A guide with jeep support. All equipment necessary, including panniers, helmets etc. Maps and binoculars provided. All drinks and snacks provided. Waterproof clothing offered., Local guide, Hotel pickup and drop-off, Lunch, Bottled water, Coffee and/or Tea

Exclusions: Although waterproof clothing is provided, we recommend you bring your own.

We've been to Westport on quite a few occasions but not always hired bikes, the occasions we did have been the most enjoyable. We didn't know what our plans might be so decided to hire the bikes and just enjoy the countryside and Greenway. I'm over 60 and not the fittest specimen and my wife had back surgery earlier in the year so we didn't want anything to strenuous. Paul was happy to let us go along the Greenway but suggested an alternative on an old mountain road which offered better views. He gave us directions and options to shorten the route if we felt it was too difficult. We followed his advice and the road...to the end. It was worth the effort, the scenery was spectacular and, apart from a short stand off with some sheep, we were alone for quite a bit of the way with nothing but natural beauty everywhere we looked. We were blessed with great weather in November and enjoying the day so much we didn't pay much attention to time. Paul was prepared to come and pick us up but we set off from Mallaranny and managed to cycle back to Westport (turbo power may have been engaged). I'd encourage anyone to try Electric Escapes if you're going to Westport, cycling on an E-Bike was a great way to see this beautiful part of Ireland and Paul is a wonderful host.

The tour is tailored to your stay on your day. This electric bike tour takes you off the beaten track. Cars here are rare and its your day to take your time to explore, find a secluded beach, secret waterfall or track and relax. Using the Greenway, Ireland’s only purpose built cycle route, we head off into a thousand square kilometres of wilderness exploring glacial riverbeds, waterfalls, bronze age forts, ancient abbeys and castles along the way. Stopping for gourmet lunch of local cuisine. This is a wilderness of many choices and each will give you a great sense of wonder and enjoyment. Here the sheep outnumber you by a hundred to one. Watch salmon leap up waterfalls, trout jump, herons and kingfishers dive and splash, and otters play.

Inclusions: Gourmet lunch with local cuisine. Quality electric and regular bikes. A guide with jeep support. All equipment necessary, including panniers, helmets etc. Maps and binoculars provided. If you love to immerse yourself in beautiful scenery and prefer a personalized private tour, then come and join me for a day trip on the beautiful Achill Island. Let it be a journey to rest your mind and nourish your soul. Scenic walks can be included if you prefer walking to driving. Depending on the length of the day and on your “exploration mode”, my little addition to the current trip would be visiting Ireland’s own Titanic Village and Titanic Memorial Park in Lahardaun in County Mayo. If you wish to enhance your visual experience while on the journey, there is an option to listen to the haunting contemporary Irish music by Seán Ó Riada, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, Patrick Cassidy and many more. I’m driving a Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid 2017, with very comfortable seating for up to three people. I can stop any time at your request.

Inclusions: All Fees and Taxes, Healthy drinks on board:natural lemonades, smoothies, juices and water. Stops at your request.

Exclusions: Lunch

I had such a wonderful time with Ulla, first of all she has such a beautiful personality with good sense of humor and she certainly knows all the hidden gems in the area of West Coast of Ireland, where an ordinary bus tour would never take you! I could not imagine taking a crowded bus tour to discover Ireland, I much prefer a private tour with a comfortable and safe car and a great tour guide who knows the area so well! I will definitely go back to Ulla and let her show me more of this amazing part of Ireland as this one day was clearly not enough!

The Quiet Man Museum offers an on-set experience with exact replicas of all the key furnishings and artifacts from the movie including Sean Thornton’s big bed, Mary Kate’s cottage piano, china, pewter, cradle and the tandem bicycle, as well as costumes made by the same company – O’Maille’s of Galway – who made them for John Ford in 1951. Quiet Man enthusiasts can dress up in costume for photos. The Museum also showcases the largest collection of Irish newspaper articles from the time the movie was filmed, which were sourced through a painstaking trawl of the microfiche files in local libraries. This first hand account allows enthusiasts to read exactly what it was like when Hollywood took over the village of Cong in 1951. The Quiet Man Museum houses the original fishing rod used by Father Lonergan and Michaeleen Og’s horse Napoleon’s original harness and a first edition of the Maurice Walsh collection of short stories, Green Rushes, on which the screenplay for The Quiet Man was based.
