National Salt Satyagraha Memorial

Reviewed By VNM2014 - Houston, United States

Anyone interested in visiting historical places in India (whether they are Indian or foreign visitors) should visit this newly created monument to the salt satyagraha (Gandhi's first major initiative that was a watershed moment in India's history). The design of the memorial by IIT Mumbai is excellent. The statues are wonderful. However, to reach this place, one has to travel through Navasari, an old, dirty, dilapidated town with congested streets. At the memorial, there are no restaurants. If the Government does not organize support services, people will still come and eventually, there will be shanties all over providing unreliable food and water. This is a great place to visit but hopefully, in the near future, road access and support facilities will improve.
