One of the best preserved roman ruin in Europe. Unmissable. See it together with the ampitheatre next door and be sure to read the notices which explain very well the djfferent gladiators who fought there.

Most people coming to Merida want to see the many remains from the Roman Period. In my opinion Templo de Diana is a sentral part of those remains and must not be missed. It is fantastic that this temple has survived all these years and still can be presented in such a good condition. What a Place Merida must have been 2.000 years ago!

We found this place amazing, with a spread of old Roman aqueduct structures and a large area of green to take a walk through. It is located away from the hustle of the city in a quiet area.

We arrived mid to late afternoon and spent the next few hours seeing as many sights as possible. While it was possible to do so, a more relaxed exploration could have been better! A word of advice if buying the combined ticket... on Sunday/Monday the museum is closed and during the July performance season the visit to the Teatro is a bit restricted. Another tip... if visiting during July, take in a performance at the Teatro! We spent the next morning visiting the 2 aqueducts and the circus...so we pretty much fit it all in.

As with many of the historical sites, well worth the visit, entrance is included in the 16 euro multi-ticket that gets you into most of the sites in Merdida.

This was a real find. It is still being excavated and I'm sure that there will be more interesting finds in the years ahead. What is on display now is impressive in its own right. It is well laid out (under cover) and there are more than enough information boards to give you a clear guide.

Part of the larger complex including the amphitheater and coliseum, the oval gives a good idea of what the competition must have been like.
