We took a family vacation to Costa Rica and since we run a fishing charter business ourselves, we wanted to fish the local waters. Signed up for a 3/4 fishing trip with a local team and took the entire family. The guys were great and took us to some of their favorite spots. Caught all kinds of fish, made great memories, and had the best day on the water! Thank you!

Rancho Raices de Osa

We are a local family farm, we do home made traditional chocolat and we share all about our culture, traditions, fruit trees, cultivations, animal farm and more !!!

This was a wonderful tour given by a beautiful Costa Rican family who share their chocolate farm experience directly with you. They let you and your kids participate as much as you want in the whole chocolate making experience. The guide Herman was very knowledgeable about native plants that he grows on his farm and their various uses and you get to sample many along the way. If you visit the Osa peninsula I highly recommend you visit this family and support their tour! Covid has hurt many families like this in Costa Rica who depend on ecotourism and I recommend you support a beautiful family like this over some ecotourism corporation.

In the Chocolate tour you first visit the cacao plantation and receive an insight of the work involved in growing, care taking cacao trees and harvesting the cacao pots. There are other tropical fruit trees and large up to 60m tall shade trees native to the area of tropical rainforest, inhabited by diverse wildlife such as the howler monkeys, agoutis, kinkajous, sloths and many birds among others. All is managed organically, respecting the natural environment. You learn about the fermentation process and visit our traditional sun drier covered with the cacao beans. We taste different fruits from other trees depending the season. In our workshop you will receive a fruit juice of the farm and appreciate all the manual work to manufacture the chocolate, the way how the cacao beans are roasted on fire, then broken with stone and grinded by hand. You will come into the enjoyment to taste an ancient special chocolate drink and at the end a tasty dessert with the freshly made chocolate.

I didn't get to go on this tour as I was in injured, but I sent my teens and husband. When I asked my teen how it was, he said it was amazing....so that says a lot! What made it special was all the fruit that the gentleman picked along the way and shared ( a tropical fruit wonderland) and the process of making chocolate by hand. It was a very close to nature experience for my kids, which they rarely get to see anymore. Hard to look up as this person doesn't advertise very well, but I think the tour is at 2 or 3pm on most afternoons.

I was looking for a tour that was just for the coffee tour with nothing else as I only had a few hours. We picked the one that included lunch and transportation to and from our hotel. This tour was perfect. Picked up at 10:25 am and returned at 2. When you arrive you’ll notice the lush landscape. The weather was perfect, very cool with a nice breeze. The tour started by giving a history of coffee and what year it made its way to Costa Rica, then you learn how it is grown, moving on you go thru the lovely grounds and learn about the harvesting and drying of the coffee beans. Very well done. Tasting of the coffee is done several times within the tour. You get to see where it is roasted and packaged although you can’t actually go into the processing plant. There’s a short video of the tasting by the baristas to know when the beans are perfect and the coffee is brewed in a press and 2 volunteers get to taste and “slurp” the coffee. The tour concluded with a trip in the gift shop and lunch since we chose that option. Lunch was delicious with a very fresh salad, nice cold beverage, lentil soup, rice and beans, mixed vegetable, green plantain dish, chicken or pork ribs and desert of a rice pudding. If you get a chance take this tour, you will not be disappointed.
