10 Shopping in Pembrokeshire That You Shouldn't Miss

March 18, 2022 Janean Rudisill

The diminutive Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, a dramatic area of 225 square miles in southwest Wales, was set aside as a national park in 1952 and comprises a large portion of the Pembrokeshire coast and its islands and the moorland hills of Mynydd Preseli. Rugged cliffs and coastal rock formations are home to boisterous populations of seabirds, porpoises, whales, seals and dolphins. Cycle, hike or sea kayak around the spectacular coastline. Bird watching and rock climbing are also popular.

The Lovespoon Workshop

The Lovespoon Workshop is a free visitor attraction based around the 17th century Welsh lovespoon tradition. Started by Kerry and Jill Thomas in 1975, the Thomas family continue handcarving Welsh lovespoons within Wales today. Everyone is welcome to come and see our unique collection of yearly lovespoons, one for every year since 1969 and all with a story to tell. Our lovespoons record events over the past fifty years, both within our own family and the wider world. We hand make all of our lovespoons onsite from a wide variety of woods and for all occasions including weddings, anniversaries, births, engagements and christenings. Over the years we have developed a range of over one hundred designs to suitable for a wide range of tastes, from traditional to contemporary. Each lovespoon includes two initials, with addition carving being available on request. We hope you will pop in to visit if you are in west Wales and we can share our work and this wonderful Welsh tradition with you.

My partner and I booked the gin experience after visiting the shop in the morning expecting a tasty gin cocktail in a bar style area inside the shop. Instead we had such a lovely surprise when we arrived to find a beautifully decorated room set up for us with the gins we had chosen to taste, water, review cards, snacks and different tonics. We were then taken through each gin and invited to taste with the matching tonic. We discovered new gins that we would have never tried before. We then followed this with a cocktail each and relaxed in the lovely gin room. Such a treat and excellent value for money! Will be back with friends and family.

Loved this - what a fun day for all ages.... My daughter and I spent about 4 hours decorating and also throwing some pots. Paul, the owner, is great and on hand if you have any questions and we ended up with 4 new pots - definitely the highlight of our holiday this year.
