This is the shop I visit when I feel the need to go to an arts festival or show...but it's a lot more comfortable, has the most personable owner and artists, and has an excellent variety of arts and crafts. I LOVE THIS SHOP!!!

Castlerigg Wine Shop

Reviewed By Fearless27752035730

If you enjoy a glass of wine, you're in luck. Castlerigg Wine Shop is truly special. The vibe is friendly, and even a bit quirky, and the setting is beautiful--it's in a restored Victorian in historic downtown Carlisle, complete with pressed-tin ceilings, gleaming hardwoods, stained glass and a fireplace--so it's perfect for date night, girl's night out or a quick wine tasting or glass of wine with friends by the fireplace or outdoors. The owner is quite knowledgeable about wine and can steer you in the right direction, whether you're a newbie or connoisseur, and they have a variety of dry and sweet wines available by the bottle or glass. There's also a little gift shop. An enthusiastic thumbs-up. You won't find anywhere just like it.

Brittle Bark

Our store is a very special confectionery shoppe where you will find unusual handmade sweets including 10 or more seasonal varieties of Brittle Bark, Sweet Jubilee Fudge, Chocolate covered pretzels and cookies, and award winning handmade chocolates from chocolatiers located in California, Massachusetts, Vermont & of course several from Pennsylvania.

Brittlebark offers a wide variety of high quality chocolates and other delicious treats for a reasonable price. I lived in Belgium for 2 years, and this shop rivals the quality of Belgian truffles without the trans-Atlantic price. They also are very approachable and hav items that would appeal to any age or palate. They make their chocolates right there on Main Street in Mechanicsburg. They are packaged beautifully, ready for gift-giving.

Cupboard Maker Books

Right across Route 15 from the railroad yard sits a building painted to look like books! Once you find it, You Are There at a super used book store! Mysteries are my favorite so that's where I zero in ..there are both hard backs and paperbacks and they are alphabetically listed. While you are there, you may encounter the two bookstore cats .. Squeekie who usually wears a bow tie and is sociable and Annika, the "reluctant bookstore cat". She is often hiding but if seen, pet at your own risk. Michelle, the owner, runs many specials which are super and worth attending. I will drive 102 miles from Lock Haven to visit and find treasures. I love this store!

It is worth the time, effort and such a selection. Local farm supplied meats, bakery items and more. I was specifically looking for fresh rabbit and found it at his Farmers Market. It was reasonably priced. Fresh in season produce is what you expect and this is what you get. Recommend you go over and over again.Open Tuesday's and Friday's only.
