The Monastery is situated in the Troodos Mountains and is well worth the windy drive to this picturesque town. There were very few visiting so it was peaceful, the priest was knowledgeable and pleasant. Some of the fragmented wall paintings date back to the 11th and 12th century and the other frescoes from the 13th and 14th century. There are three small churches and a number of other rooms including an oil press to explore.

This 11th century Greek Christian Orthodox church is another gem in beautiful Kakopetria village of Trrodos mountains. The UNESCO protected church is really wonderful with its frescos and lies peaceful in a lovely scenery. Worth visiting not not only the church but the whole area.

This church is built on a small mountain in a cave. There are a number of stairs to climb in order to visit. However, there is also an elevator for those that cannot. The true icon itself is not kept here but that does not make it any less of a church. People bring candles, in many forms (babies, ear, mouth, etc) as an offering to the Virgin Mary after asking for some sort of miracle.
