Amazing stay! Will definitely be coming back!

We went to Mazatlan for our 8 year anniversary and booked a junior suite. Upon arrival, we met the manager Arnuflo who learned it was our anniversary and decided to upgrade our room to help us celebrate. When we got to our room there was balloons and a note for us! It was so sweet! The room was AMAZING! The bigger balcony, the hammocks, we spent majority of our time that we were in the rook, on the balcony. Absolutely amazing views, the staff was very patient and nice. My Spanish is definitely not the greatest, but everyone took their time to listen and understand and was just fantastic. Our house keeper was fantastic as well! Just an overall great great trip! Arnuflo and his staff are fantastic, and for us, his English helped us TREMENDOUSLY. Highly reccomend staying here for those that may not be the best with Spanish! The staff still treats you great! Thank you all!!

Changes at The Palms

Reviewed By csquare

I stayed at The Palms for 7 nights in early November. I have stayed here many times over the years, at least 15 times. I have always given good reviews of my stays. The recent sale of the hotel has brought some changes, not all of them good. They have changed out the lobby furniture, more informal, less classy. The addition of the Panama Restaurant has brought many more people to the property, many who are not staying there. Good for the hotel I'm sure but more crowded for guests seeking tables at the outside restaurant, etc. But my biggest disappointment was that they hosted a wedding on property at the pool that went to 11 o'clock. With live music blaring into everyone's room! I thought the band was done until the wedding party brought up a banda group for the last hour from the beach. I'm sure it was pre-arranged. Oh brother. I can't believe the hotel management thought so little of its guests to allow this kind of noise late into the night. There was no way to sleep during this event in my opinion. I should have complained to the management but did not and that is my fault for not doing so. Maybe they would have given me some consideration on a future stay. I usually stay on weeknights only and this just reinforces that weekends are not for me at The Palms.

Lovely old hotel

Reviewed By happycamperSt_Albert

The Freeman is right on the Malecon so is in the centre of everything going on in town. That can make it quite noisy at night with all the revelry going on outside but that is made up for by the fact that you get to experience the local events. Breakfast is included with the room and is substantial with either a buffet or special orders. Rooms vary in size and views. We prefer the front ocean and Malecon view with a room in the centre rather than the corner room which is smaller. They also have suites with kitchens and sitting rooms if you want more space. Ocean view rooms have 2 double beds, king beds are in city View rooms at the back, not sure why. The hotel was built in 1944 and retains the charm of the era in a very old and lovely part of Centro, close to everything. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. There is a bar at the top of the building which attracts a lot of people to watch the sunset in the evening. On the roof is a pool with bar service which we didn’t use because it was too cold when we were there.

3 week stay

Reviewed By sandicress

We would not go back to this resort! Three days a week 200 cruise passengers learn how to make salsa and then hang around the hotel for the rest of the day until their ship leaves and instruction is done loudly over a sound system in an open portion of the restaurant so echos throughout the resort and pool area! The resort as well as most along the Zona Donada offer all-inclusive, minimal weekend rates so the resort is overflowing and service not great! The resort is perhaps recouping some of their loses from the pandemic but at the expense of international travels looking for a nice vacation! The weekends are loud, loud, loud with bands playing until 1 am and the noise echos up the open atrium which runs from the main floor to the 12th floor. Impossible to sleep! Starting mid afternoon multiple bands compete along the beach front and produce mainly racket! So if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere this is not the resort for you!!!

Another Great Stay at The INN

This remains one of my favorite places to stay in Mazatlan. Right on the beach, comfortable rooms, clean, friendly and helpful staff. My only suggestion for improvement is to increase the temperature in the jacuzzi's. Something new is the Happy Hour to the left of the lobby as you enter from the street. 5-8. Hardly anyone goes there, but it was the best margarita I had in Mazatlan and it was 2:1. Also the food cooked and served outside the Rio bar on the street side of the property is really good. They closed at 7:30pm and are only open in the evenings, so get there in time.

Worse Place Ever

Disgusted with the staff at front lobby, the roaches, smell of mold and the filth of this place. After calling the main lobby so many times they decided to listen to us and replace the door knobs on both sliding doors, complaint about the smell of mold and the leak on the entire kitchen, they blamed us, stating we had left doors open, something that we never would do because of risk of having our placed robbed. They finally determined that there was indeed a leak by this time we were in the unit 3 days and had unpacked all items and purchased groceries, not to mentioned have a minor and one infant. Management did not care when we first pointed this out!! Left 3 days prior, WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS HORRIBLE DUMP.

Terrible, do not stay there

Reviewed By 318ginap

My husband and I travel to Mexico in the winter every year, but have never been to Mazatlán. Sometimes we like stay in all inclusive 5 star resorts and sometimes we like the small Boutique hotels. We just got back from the 7 night stay at Casa Lucila. In short, extremely overpriced for a 4 star hotel, without the basic amenities like: coffee in the room, fresh bottle of water every day, hairdryer, mirror extra hangers etc. We asked to speak with manager, but was told he is not there. The standard comment was always a polite explanation that it is under new management and things changed. The design was very spartan, old worn minimal furniture and no decorations whatsoever. Our small room #4 was in the middle of row of four, all sharing the same balcony. The view was breathtaking, but felt uncomfortable sharing, including simple wood chair and small table. The bathroom was large but completely empty, devoid of spaces to hang towels or place toiletries. The pool area was a small terrace with a 5m x2m pool shared with two other rooms. Altogether despite the breathtaking views it was not attractive nor charming as one would expect in such a pretentious Boutique Hotel. We do have to point several plusses: the location is absolutely the best for visiting Centro or going to Rock Island, beach across the road and al the restaurants and bars within a few blocks. The staff is very friendly and tries the best, but is uninformed and always refers to the non existing manager, whom we did not manage to meet till the end. And lastly, the place is very clean. The linens, old but clean and fresh every day and room nicely tidied. Common areas also very well maintained. Altogether, not up to expectations versus the price!
