10 Private Tours in Imerovigli That You Shouldn't Miss

December 11, 2021 Terina Blouin

Imerovigli looks exactly as a Santorini village should: iconic whitewashed buildings with sapphire domes, narrow crisscrossing walking paths, epic sunsets. Set sail on a guided boat tour of nearby volcanic features or spend the day exploring the remains of Skaros, a 13th-century Venetian palace. Cap it all off with a simple but decadent meal of local delicacies.

One day, two Santorinis... For most visitors to the island, there is one Santorini. That of rugged, volcanic landscape and whitewashed cubiform buildings that spill down cliffs overlooking red, black and white lava pebble beaches. For photographers, though, there are two Santorinis: the island in the morning and the island in the afternoon.  Explore Santorini’s greatest hits and hidden bits The workshop is split into two parts – morning and afternoon – in keeping with the two Santorinis: Morning session We’ll start the day in the north of Santorini amongst picturesque traditional settlements, where you can capture an authentic side of the island, as experienced by the locals. Afternoon session After lunch and a break from the scorching midday sun (feel free to take a siesta), we’ll start up the afternoon session, heading south to explore off the beaten track.

Inclusions: Full instruction from a professional photographer and guidance throughout the workshop, Use of Tripod

Exclusions: Camera, Lenses

Santorini is famous for its spectacular scenery and beautiful wine. A workshop combining the two just makes sense. But that’s not all you’ll be doing… We both know photography is thirsty work. Luckily, we’ll be in the right place to grab a drink. You’re fine with it being wine, right? The sights, the sounds, and the tastes... Starting at 9 am, we’ll spend the morning exploring the north of Santorini, capturing the island from one of its highest points as it basks in the sun. Along the way, we’ll visit off-the-beaten-path locations, see hidden gems and photograph the landscape from vantage points most tourists never experience. Then, we’ll make our way to the black sand beach and my second home – the Gaia Winery. Here I’ll put my enologist hat on to tell you all about the history of Santorini’s vineyards, wineries and grapes, before ending with your very own wine tasting session.

Inclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, Wine Tasting

SHOOT FOR THE STARS This Santorini night and astrophotography workshop starts just as the vast crowds of sunset hunters disperse. Because we know something they don’t. We know the magic that’s to come once the sun goes down. You’ll be picked up around an hour before sunset for a trip to the very north of the island, where we can capture the dusk sky at its most beautiful. From there, we’ll move onto two more picturesque locations to get shots of the stars, sky and stunning geological formations. It’s your chance to explore the less touristy parts of Santorini under the night sky, using photography to tell the story of your experience.
