Watt Street Wharf

Reviewed By DestinationsJourney - Hunter Valley, Australia

This is a historically important spot in Newcastle, although most of it is now gone. This was the place of the first wharf, where coal was exported and ships unloaded cargo. Now it's a great spot to relax, have a nice walk and take in the views of Nobby's Headland, Stockton Beach and the Harbor.

Big Kookaburra

Reviewed By TanG68 - Buderim, Australia

Now, this is a very good-looking kookaburra that is photogenic in any light as we stayed a couple of days at the Kurri Motor Inn and we couldn’t help photographing the big bird every time we walked past, whether it was morning, noon or dusk. Love that the town has a kookaburra theme - every mural in town has a kookaburra in it, the Bowls club has Kookaburr’s bar and grill and there is this big lovely kookaburra in a shady park with nice gardens and clean public toilets. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Strzelecki Scenic Lookout

Reviewed By City4fun - Newcastle, Australia

A break in the rain on the weekend got us out for a coastal walk and we lingered here as others were saying there were whales and dolphins swimming in close. We saw 3 whales and one of the largest pods of dolphins we’d seen, must’ve been about 60 of them. Truly incredible.
