Teignmouth Coastwatch

Reviewed By sandymL8269RF - Exeter, United Kingdom

I think coastwatch should get a lot more publicity. We have a small boat which we launch in Teignmouth and it is great to know that we will be logged and if we don’t come back someone will know. These good people are not paid they give their time willingly, to make the sea safer for those who use it.

Padstow Harbour

Reviewed By RachieShillito - Doncaster, United Kingdom

Had an amazing day here today despite being really busy, parked in the park and ride at the top of the hill £5 all day and free bus down to Padstow - well worth it as the town car park is always full! Had fun crabbing on the harbour, had lovely fish and chips from Chips Ahoy and also went on the ferry over to Rock for the first time today (return tickets are £4 for adults and £2 for children ) - spent a couple of hours exploring the area and enjoying the views!

Bristol City Docks

Reviewed By hawkes2an - Cranbrook, United Kingdom

Bristol City Docks is a truly vibrant place with lots of people sitting, talking walking and eating and drinking.. There's loads of restaurants, with varying cusines, and bars, ice cream vans, coffee carts and creperies. There's also loads of history; Brunel's SS Great Britain, the Mathew (a replica of John Cabot's ship); the uniquely-named bascule bridge, Pero's Bridge. And there's also loads of Bristol's history; the M Shed; the Harbour Railway and the Fairbairn Steam Crane. You can walk and walk through Bristol's City Docks and find something interesting every which way you look.

Falmouth Seafront Promenade

Reviewed By Manderj - Nuneaton, United Kingdom

It was lovely to stroll along the promenade. It was a nice sunny day when we visited. So pleasant. Nice bar next to the promenade called the grapes. We also walked into the shopping area and there were some lovely shops to browse. Definitely worth a visit. We parked in the quarry car park which is close to the shops and promenade. However there is a steep hill to get to the car park.

Bradford-on-Avon Wharf

Bradford-on-Avon Wharf was once the busiest wharf on the Kennet & Avon Canal. Today, it’s a great place to spot historic canal features.

Reviewed By lizbC1315NX - London, United Kingdom

We had four days trying out a narrow boat on the Kennet and Avon Canal. It was cold but fun made a lot better by a warming visit to Baileys Barn where we had a welcome cuppa and a full English breakfast. The volunteers at the Canals and River Trust on the canal side lock were so helpful and friendly as I was terrified of letting all the water out of the Canal!

Swanage Pier

We walked down to the pier to see all the memorial plaques placed into the boards, it’s only £1.50 per adult, a little bit of heritage for a little bit of change.

Christchurch Quay

Reviewed By adriang16 - Bournemouth, United Kingdom

Sit and have a bag of chips or an ice cream and watch the world go by lot's of boats and wild life, there is a small ferry that takes you to the other side of the water, near the Captains Table. Boat hire available but not cheap. Catch the ferry to Hengestbury Head or Tucton tea rooms for a game of crazy golf, or just walk along the waters edge

Porthleven Harbour

Lovely village and beach, love this place ... it has a hipster surfer vibe which is is a complementary contrast to the local area ... though hopefully doesn't go to far in future. The Ship is a great vantage point to watch the world go buy. The beach is also long (and on a pleasant September day) not too crowded.

Smeatons Pier

Reviewed By paullegate - St Ives, United Kingdom

Smeatons Pier is one of the main landmarks in St Ives and is located at the northern side of the harbour. There was an original pier in place with references to it dating back to 1478 and was rebuilt to the design by civil engineer John Smeaton between 1766 and 1770. The pier was extended from 360 feet in 1890’s to its current length and a new lighthouse was added during the upgrade. There are some great views of the harbour from the pier, it can be quite an obstacle course if the lobster pots are piled up along the pier. Smeatons Pier is worth walking along for the view alone.
