Sunrise Jewelry Making Classes

My name is Devendra I’m from a long line of Newari Metalsmiths and learned this craft from my father and grandfather who have been the craftsmen for former royalty of Nepal. I have opened a studio near Thamel, so that I can teach interested people the Traditional techniques of metalwork. I love teaching about my heritage and we have a lot of fun in the studio experimenting with tradition and contemporary projects.

Devandra was the great teacher to lead me to create my own unique bracelet step by step. He was willing to share his knowledge generously and assisted me to create the bracelet by different tools with proper skills patiently. When I came to Devandra’s workshop, I told him that I want to make a personalised jewelry about Phoenix. He explained me that what kind of jewelry I can consider to make. Then I decided to make a bracelet. I designed the outline of bracelet and drew it on paper. He demonstrated me how to use different tools with various techniques to create my bracelet. He was so enthusiastic, professional and patient. Highly recommend it!
