In search of great fishing, beautiful surroundings, and a wonderful staff? Who isn't, so allow me to recommend the fishing pools at the Forbes of Kingennie country resort in Dundee. Sometimes luck can be your best friend. In search of a vacation from France amidst the pandemic, I happened upon this resort and had the good fortune - read luck - to speak to Grant, one of the amazing staff there. After a short conversation, he had won me over with his acumen and friendliness and I found myself booking a flight, car, and hotel - throwing caution to the wind. Giddy up - destination Dundee. A 20 minute drive from my hotel found me face to face with these beautiful grounds. Lodging, restaurant, and golf. Myself, I came for the fishing - bare handed with nothing more than a lot of unbridled enthusiasm. Well, Grant and Ian took care of me that first ay and made sure I had what I needed to begin my 3 day adventure. The learning curve was reduced greatly thanks to Grant who really knows his pools and best practice fishing techniques. Thanks to him, I caught 5, 8, and 19 respectively over the three day period. In large part due to his council, techniques, and some of his own personal flies. Unbelievable, he actually went through his tackle box and hand delivered them to me on my last day. Additionally, he even came by to check on me a couple times - an exceptional, genuine young man who really made my trip. Quality establishments have common traits, none more important than the staff. Here, Kingennie stands alone with a talented team led by Grant, Ian, and Robert. Thank you everyone, and especially Grant. I hope the management knows how lucky they are to have such an amazing staff - Thank you all, and to Grant - I owe my amazing trip to you. Thank for caring and hope to visit again. M. Jackson

Piperdam Golf and Leisure Resort

Reviewed By BrianA313 - Aberdeen, United Kingdom

11 of us stayed for 3 nights as a 70th birthday surprise for my wife & we had a ball. Check in was swift & friendly, opted for 3 lodges as opposed to the 12 bed Vegas lodge. We were in No 84 Byron Premier, No 85 Raeburn Premier & No 94 Galbraith Premier. Good that they managed to get us all close to each other. All the lodges were clean, spacious, well equipped & each had a hot tub which was well utilised even though we had storm Dennis that weekend. The bar & restaurant staff were very friendly & helpful when required. Good menu selection & the quality of the food was very good, service a little slow at times but worth waiting for. Pool was great for the kids & adults alike. We booked activities, body zorbs, segways & archery which everyone loved and Cameron the instructor was first class. All in all a brilliant time was had by all from 5 year old to 70 year old & would highly recommend. Only negative comment I have is the car park at the play barn needs some surface work done.
