Annie Palmer called the “White Witch” because of her countless lovers and allegedly poisoned her three husbands. A vengeful slave supposedly smothered her with a pillow in her bed in the 1830s. The water luminescence is triggered by dinoflagellates, oceanic plankton which is able to generate an emerald green and ultramarine illumination when water is physically disturbed.
