Asuwayama Park

Reviewed By KlapauciusJapan

Roads connect various areas on Asuwayama, making an interesting park near Fukui station. The park is walkable, though all paths are roads so sometimes need to avoid cars. The main attraction is the zoo, which is free to enter, though closed during winter. Tripadvisor still shows it at the incorrect location.

Kitanosho Castle Park

An interesting place with a shrine and statues, and old castle wall/moat visible. Now even more interesting thanks to English explanations of the history being added. Well worth a visit.

Uchihori Park

Includes the moat and grassy areas inside the Fukui castle wall. A nice place to walk, interesting to think about the history and how it might have looked in the past. The moat often has birds, fish, and turtles in it.

Fukui Central Park

Reviewed By KlapauciusJapan

A large open space next to Fukui castle ruins, with lots of benches to sit outside, grass, a fountain, an indoor seating space and public toilets, and a small space for outdoor performances. It opened a couple of years ago. A nice park, with some dog walkers, and people relaxing on benches. (With better town planning, this would have been perfect for the space inside the old castle moat/walls, rather than the office buildings there.)
