Definitely a must to visit, it was really beautiful with lots of places to sit around the lake. The water is clear and the national park is very clean. Take a bike ride around the lakes or hire a canoe, we did both

Plitvice Lakes National Park

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest and largest national park in the Republic of Croatia, famous for its numerous turquoise-coloured lakes separated by tufa, or travertine, barriers. Its karst landscape is characterised by specific hydrological traits and exceptional biological diversity, which helped the National Park gain international significance. Magical lakes and waterfalls in Croatia, it was utterly mesmerising, the vivid colours and raw nature walk through the park. We were overwhelmed by the crystal clear waters and exceptionally well maintained park. They have well planned walks for everyone, from a nice relaxed trek from 2 hours to a more expert level of all day. We opted for the 2-3 hour walk and it was perfect to enjoy the wonderful park, a short boat ride and leisurely stroll with magnificent views of the magical lakes and waterfalls. Once you are finished there is a shuttle bus waiting to return you back to the entrance, where you have a short walk back to the carpark. We chose 'Program E' for Easy:-) It starts at the southern entrance to the Park (“Entrance 2”). The tour is circular and includes the area of "Upper Lakes". The program includes a short boat ride across Lake "Kozjak" followed by a walk upstream all the way to Prošćansko Lake. Return to the starting point is by panoramic train. Experience the idyllic beauty of the peaceful and spacious "Upper Lakes" with wooded shores and their most attractive waterfalls "Veliki" and "Mali prštavcima" as well as many smaller waterfalls.

My favourite hiking site in Croatia. If you like to hike alone, without manny ppl on your trail, I recommend trail Platak- Risnjak (peak)- Snjeznik- Platak. If the weather is clear prepare youselves for amazing views to the sea, southern Gorski Kotar and Slovenian Alps from Risnjak and Snjeznik peaks. It is a beautiful whole day round hike (16km, it takes about 5-6h with breaks), with a possibility for lunch at the hut beneath Risnjak peak, and in one of the two huts in Platak.

Paklenica National Park

Reviewed By SoloSunjo - Las Vegas, United States

Paklenica is a beautiful area. The park entrance is 1 km from Starigrad-Paklenica the seaside town. Plenty of camping places. Walk through the canyon, watch rock climbers, visit the cave tunnel aka Bunker to get a refreshing drink and free movie (in English and Croatian) about the park. Nice way to beat the heat. Keep hiking to Paklenica Mountain Hut where a cold beverage costs 20 kuna and a room is 90 kuna. But my favorite place is ran by Marijo just a 10 min hike up the trail to Ramica Dvori. His personality will capture you! Check out his family’s ancient home built into rocks-450 years ago. Stay at his lodge and eat from his black kitchen. Best shower on the mountain!

I have been to this national park few times before on a half day tours. This time I decided to stay at the hotel and it was a good decision because island looks different when the tourist groups are gone. It is peaceful in the evening, so do not be surprised if you see rabbits or does on the meadow close to the hotel. The staff on the island was very friendly and helpful, especially Danijela that works on the information desk. She was so enthusiastic to give us additional details and we really enjoyed talking to her. And one more thing - rent a golf car for perfect visit of the whole island.
