Museo Casa de la Zacatecana

The Casa de la Zacatecana (Zacatecan's Home) Museum features a collection of decorative art from Mexico, Europe and the East, as well as sculptures and paintings dating back to the Seventeenth to Twentieth Centuries. The museum is named after the central character of a series of events that gave rise to a famous legend from the city of Zacatecas, in the northern Mexico. The old mansion where the museum is housed dates back to the Eighteenth Century, and is a traditional high-class home of the New Spain society. It consists of eleven halls, and a brief introductory video. A visit to this museum will provide a glance at the day-to-day life of yesteryear that took place un this mansion.

Passion drives the way. Tere Cisneros runs this awesome place and she still welcomes the visitors warmly greeting everyone who wants to dive into the Mexican culture through the little dolls. Pay special attention to the faces, the rich details in each scenario. Definitely a must stop when visiting Tequisquiapan. We loved it!

Located in a beautiful XVII century house restored to be a museum which shows a magnificent wood carving replica of the "Calendario Azteca" or "Piedra del Sol", original paintings created between 1930 to late 60´s to become calendar images, and an astonishing collection of old advertising calendars from 1884 to our days.
