When visiting Loch Gur recently we were advised to visit this fascinating 'hidden gem' only 5 K's away - it was such a surprise and delight! Dennis, the proprietor, showed us his unusual collection of objects that tell a tale of Irish social history - we walked into a treasure trove of old Ireland that includes a schoolroom, pub, farmhouse, cobblers, postoffice, village shop, blacksmiths, garage, and of course his special collection from his travels. It was to be a quick look-see that lasted over an hour! Highly recommended if you are in the area.

This 1860's quaint limestone cottage is a treasure throve of costumes and theatrical memorabilia displaying over 100 years of unique history. Originally bought to store the huge collection of props, scenery, lighting and costumes of Vic Loving who toured from the 1920's to the 1970's bringing the first show featuring a chorus line in Ireland! Theatre enthusiasts will love this museum

Located in the heart of Adare village and close to all Adares hotels and tourist attractions. Contemporary and Genuine Irish Art and Crafts for sale sourced directly from the local makers. Opportunities to meet the artists frequently present themselves. Art classes with professional artists/tutors may be arranged on request by exceptionally friendly staff.
Really a great gallery in a small town on our way to southern Ireland. The gentleman that seemed to own the shop was very nice, and so nice to talk to. We really had fun chatting and learning about the town and surrounding areas. He gave us a few great ideas for lunch and he was spot on! The shop had a lot of really nice art pieces, as well as other local items for sale. We ended up buying multiple things as it was such a nice environment to shop in. Lastly, the shop owner really hooked us up and taught us all about the sales tax exemption for non EU citizens – THANK YOU SIR! We will hunt this shop out on our next trip to Ireland.

The Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum excitingly captures the story of how Foynes became one of the great aviation hubs of the world between 1937-1945. Walk in the footsteps of JFK, Bob Hope, Eleanor Roosevelt & many other dignitaries, movie stars & refugees who landed at Foynes during World War II. Throughout the original terminal building this truly unique story is told by way of original film in a 1940’s style cinema, showcases covering the war years & numerous exhibits on the romantic flying boat era including the chance to board a life size replica of the Boeing 314 Flying Boat. Foynes & the Flying Boats will be forever connected with the invention of Irish Coffee as they combined to give us this uniquely Irish treat. Learn all about this historic event by watching a wonderful 3D holographic show re-enacting this famous night back in 1943 & after why not taste a delicious Irish Coffee in its original home.
Spent a wonderful rainy afternoon checking out this museum. Maureen O’Hara had a strong connection with this important part of aviation history. Definitely a hidden gem worth the time if you are traveling by car in Ireland.

We only had very little time to spend in Limerick and I am so glad we found this gem of a museum close to the hotel we stayed (the Absolute). The collection is marvellous and fascinating, and the building itself is worth a visit. There is a nice gift shop with a range of interesting books and a very nice coffee shops with wonderful cakes! Don't miss it!!

Limerick Museum is now based in the Franciscan Friary, Henry Street. The Limerick Museum first opened its doors in 1916 at the Carnegie Building in Pery Square and relocated four times before finding its permanent home in Henry Street. The Limerick Museum holds in storage the largest local authority collection in the country. The display in Henry Street shows only a fraction of this collection to highlight the history of Limerick City and County for thousands of years. The museum is fully accessible to all and is free.
The Limerick Leader archive photos from the 1970s provided a great insight into life in Limerick at that time.
