A Welcome in the Hillside !

Reviewed By Foodiejem

Sarah and Paul are so warm and welcoming - as is their beautiful modern farmhouse. Celyn Farm sits nestling on the hillside, with stunning, panoramic views in every direction. The drive up from Crickhowell was very pretty - along quiet country lanes, banked with bluebells and primroses - and fields full of gambling lambs (we visited in April). The master room we stayed in was very spacious, with a massive en-suite bath and shower room - all spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were great quality - and again came with stunning views ! Just a heads up if you are staying on a Sunday or Monday - the closest local pubs are both closed those nights - but delicious food can be found 15mins drive down the hill in Crickhowell itself at The Bear and The Dragon (I suggest you book as they were very busy those nights).

A wonderful spot

Reviewed By Rickcs

A place I’ve known since it was built with folks I regard as dear friends over the years. A rural location with access to all manner of outdoor activity including world classic kayak areas. The centre is hugely versatile from camping, choices of ‘glamping’, bunkhouse, through to comfortable en suite rooms; catered or self catering. The lovely thoughtful touches are more apparent with every visit. An excellent on-site bar also offers very good food and drink. There has to be something for everyone. Don’t expect the hand and foot hotel experience; it’s not that kind of place. However, it’s the offering of incredibly hard working and sincere people giving of their very best in an industry that has been very difficult of late. For me, a spot to be treasured and highly recommended.

Hidden gem… wow what a Sunday roast

Reviewed By beckynol80

Just stayed at the Silurian Hotel for a wedding and wow how surprised we were at the quality of this hotel. The rooms are lovely and clean and the staff are incredibly helpful from reception to waiting staff, even the chef came out and asked us how our meal was. However the best thing ever was the Sunday roast. Decent portion and very well presented even the vegetables were perfection. Great selection and didn’t need any extra seasoning. Mike the chef your a legend. We’ll be staying again *****

Little Gem in Wales

Reviewed By Emily009

We stayed for 3 nights and were very pleasantly surprised at the standard of accommodation as we have travelled extensively in Wales and unfortunately have often been disappointed but not this time! Absolutely spotlessly clean (I am Mrs Fussy personified ?) but felt very comfortable and at ease at Pontyclerc Farmhouse. We had a downstairs room and it was blissfully peaceful throughout our stay. The owners were always helpful and on hand to answer any queries about the area etc. The breakfast table was also laid beautifully with flowers to brighten the start of our morning and the food was beautifully cooked. I can definitely recommend the porridge with delicious honey ?. All this at an amazingly reasonable price - win win every time. Thank you to all the family for making our stay so lovely.

Excellent spa experience

Reviewed By kaguy

We stayed here for my 50th birthday with 7 friends/family. From start to finish I cannot fault the place. We were made to feel welcome straight away and shown to our tables for lunch, which was gorgeous and plentiful. We were then explained the process of our treatments and shown where the pool, changing rooms etc was. The hot stones treatment was to die for, highly recommend. As part of our package we were given platters of fresh fruit whilst enjoying the pool area. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds comfortable. The evening meal was absolutely gorgeous and not one of us had a bad meal. The burger is huge. Breakfast in the morning was full cooked breakfast and help yourself to tea/coffee/juice as well as cereals and fruit. Our only issue we had was our room door didn’t lock, even though we pulled it too very hard that you couldn’t open, but came back bit later and it was open. We were concerned but then realised when we were in the room the door unlocked itself time and time again,so think it’s a mechanical issue and made staff aware following morning. All in all I would highly recommend the spa, restaurant, bar and all of the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly.

Brilliant views, itchy rooms

Reviewed By R3372RJemilyp

We had a general all round good stay, views and location were spectacular! Easy to find via car and excellent bike paths in immediate proximity. We stayed in the lodges and loved the squashy armchairs, though woke the next morning with a fair few bites between us. Part of the "information sheet" states to not strip the beds and we wonder if this is for ease for the high turnover ... nothing visible bug wise in the rooms but we were all (4) feeling itchy from our nights sleep. Friend of mine had crusty something on her duvet upon check in. Otherwise comfortable beds, good locks and decent toilet / shower facilities. Would recommend for a night or two, but perhaps bring your own duvet!!

Noticed a difference this stay compared to previous years

Reviewed By nataliewU1338EW

year however there were a few little differences which made it a little less enjoyable than in previous years. Check out has gone back to 10am after it was 9am due to covid and extra cleaning. However, on the day of our check out Oli came and started emptying our hot tub before we even left. This made us feel incredibly rushed and like they wanted rid of us. Maids don’t come and clean your room at a hotel while you are still in it packing up and this is the same. What difference would 30 minutes have seriously made to him? Also, our shower would not drain properly and I had to contact them twice as it was starting to overflow after a few mins of use. Oli came and put a gel in it and this didn’t do anything. In the end we had to unscrew the drain cover for it to drain away. The cooker hob had a handle raised and obviously a little broken. There wasn’t any soap left at all in any bathroom when usually a small travel one has always been left in the past. There were weeds (large thistle dandelion) around the doorway on entry which is a bit scruffy looking. If it were our first time we might not have noticed and thought this was the norm but this is not the standard we have always had throughout our years of visiting. We also arrived to the bookable slot at the pool and three lodges having a party were in it but all booked under one lodge so it was very full. We rebooked for the hour after and went in when the others had mostly gone. They approached us and told us it was booked for them so had to explain it’s a two lodge booking, not party booking. Something they hadn’t seemed to understand. They were loud at night time too, drinking outside past 9pm and then loud inside their lodge. Overall we had a nice time but not the usual experience we have had in the past with the hot tub being emptied before we even left being something that I found most annoying as made us feel rushed and unwanted there.
