Great Location excellent rooms.

Reviewed By ricardocQ533NB

A very nicely located hotel with very nice and large rooms, very reasonably priced. The food was good and inexpensive. The rooms facing the church gave you the feel of being amid the activity and action. Just few feet away you have the whole center of town, restaurants and bars and a whole lot of stands selling arts and crafts. The only downside, no AC in the place, only an oscillating fan.

I spent 9 nights here and have no complaints at all. Located next to a bus terminal at the edge of the Centro area, it wasn't nearly as noisy as I had expected. Housekeeping services were excellent. The room had AC and a a quiet ceiling fan. The restaurant was open till 11 pm, the food and service were great and very reasonably priced. My first meal there was a chicken mole, which was excellent, and I ate there with a friend five other times. Good omelettes and salads. Occasionally there would be some noise from the front desk area when a group would arrive, but in general, it was quiet inside. Once you step out to the sidewalk on the 190, the traffic noise and fumes were what you'd expect. There was always someone at the front desk to help with questions and tour suggestions.

We got the room num.1. In front of the room there is a small kind of open area with plants; it is not allowed to smoke but every now and then the odor and smoke where inside our room! The smell was terrible since there is no way for the smoke to get out! The room is very small and at the bottom of the door there is an opening. Therefore, you can hear everything and everyone. Too much noise, so if you are sensitive it’s impossible to sleep.

Not a bad place to stay but don't have high expectations. This is sort of a typical Mexican salesman hotel. It isn't designed for tourists or families. It is designed for someone who needs a place to stay and doesn't want to use a Hostel. The location of the hotel is not super convenient if you are looking to be close to the downtown area or the airport. If you are looking for a location that is no the outskirts of town going north, this is a good location.

Could only stand one night!

We arrived in Oaxaca in mid-February to find my usual hotel, Villa de Leon on Reforma closed for renovations, the manager had an assistant carry my suitcase to an alternate hotel a couple of blocks away. We arrived there to find no one on duty at the reception desk. Left our baggage, went out for lunch then came back to check in. Should have asked to see the room first. When we walked in to see curtains hanging in shreds from the curtain rods, my heart sank. Comfy beds and a good bathroom so we decided to stay. The hotel is located on the corner of two of the busiest streets in Oaxaca. Terrible sleep, so we went out early the next morning and found a wonderful classy QUIET hotel for not much more than the S. Domingo rate.

Met expectations

Booked this room for day of the dead festivities, and given the price, it was pretty much what I expected. Room was clean and adequate, though like previous reviews note, the mattresses are hard and can be kind of uncomfortable. Was in room 201 which had a sweet balcony, but with that comes the incredible noise from the street. We had a fan which was fine for Oct/Nov, but if the is the extent of the ventilation I would not hazard a stay here during the summer months. It took a long time for water to become hot, but it would eventually. Staff seemed nice. In all, for 45USD a night during a busy festival, it was clean, safe, and adequate for four days.
