Rude staff

Reviewed By Cradjames

I was staying for my cousins wedding on Saturday 4th of June. On Friday I rang the hotel direct and spoke with a man about being able to get in early as we were coming from 2 hours away and didn’t want to come all that way in suit and girlfriend in her dress. I was then told he could definitely get me a room for me and my girlfriend to get ready in by the latest 1.15pm which would have been perfect. Arriving on Saturday at 1pm we were greeted with a busy reception with bags everywhere (which I’m sure the staff can not keep an eye on all these) there were 2 lady’s behind the desk with only 1 of them serving. When we got to the front the lady checked my booking and then told me that check in was 3pm, I then explained I had spoke with a man the day beforehand and he said he would be able to sort us a room for 1.15pm. She then told me there was no rooms and we would have to get ready in the disabled toilet which as you can imagine was not great trying to get ready for my cousins wedding. When we came back from then getting ready there was still a big que at the reception desk with still only one lady serving I ask the other lady if I could pop my bags with all the other ones she told me I would have to rejoin the que. I then asked if I could speak the manger and she ignored me. The other customers were horrified at this so let me go in front to give my bags in. When we arrived at the hotel later that night the bags were still there which was great. I then found out that because I was part of the wedding party my room rate should have been 89 pounds but when asking if there was anything that could be done about this I was told just told no. I then had to pay on 4 separate transactions to pay for my room as I didn’t have my card with me and the man said I could not pay with Apple Pay over 50 pounds. Overall this was not a great experience. I have stayed in many Hilton’s before and have normally had a great stay. The staff were rude and did not want to help at all. Even since my stay I have rang the hotel twice to see if I could speak the manger about this and left my name and number with the reception as I was told the manger was busy, but still no phone call back!

Restricted access to certain parts of the hotel inside and out when a wedding is on

Reviewed By Loveholidays201129

Please be aware if there is a wedding on during your stay your cannot use the main lounge or terrace near hotel from about 1200-330pm. They use the main lounge for the wedding ceremony and the terrace after for photos/ drinks. This was not made aware to us on booking, only that there would be a wedding on. We did not want to go out of the hotel due to my mother not walking very far. So this did impact on our stay. I would also like to say the waiting staff and bar staff are so friendly and helpful , you are lucky to have them. We enjoyed the delicious food cooked to a good standard.
