Great meals

Reviewed By D7723IYcarolh

We were a party of four & had booked a meal for Saturday 28th May 2022 for 6.30pm. We were greeted at restaurant and taken straight to our table, the place was very busy but within a couple of minutes a young lady came with menu's & asked for our drink order. This was how it was all evening, we never had to wait long for anything. The food was really good too and very well presented. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful even though they all must have done their 10,000 steps just that evening. We would definitely recommend The Crown, Stornoway for a great meal & great staff.

Royal Hotel Stornoway

Stornoway's most historic hotel, the Royal nestles in the heart of Stornoway, beside the marina, where you can relax, enjoy the hotel's cosy character and enjoy dining in our Boatshed Restaurant or in HS1, the town's 1st cafe bar.If on business, you'll probably appreciate free wireless internet access available throughout the hotel. What matters so much more than bricks and mortar, though, is the warmth of the welcome and the friendly, easy service you'll receive - for the Hebrides has a great tradition of hospitality. While the Royal Hotel enjoys a delightful view over the colourful, bustling harbour to the splendour of Lews Castle and its grounds. The town centre is only around 200 metres walk.

Great location and food

Reviewed By Photogs123

We stayed at the Royal Hotel for three nights in May. The location is just minutes from the ferry, there was free parking, and two restaurants on-site. We had to take a room with two single beds, but they were comfortable and the size of the room was large. The staff could not have been any nicer. One night we had dinner at the HS-1 Cafe. It was casual with the best chicken fajita wrap I have ever had. The sauce was so delicious, I was glad I ordered the rice to get every last drop. The next night we ate at the Boatshed Restaurant. The service was a bit slow, but the friendly staff made up for the wait time. The Seafood Pot was fresh and delicious. Breakfast at the Boatshed was included and was the perfect start to each day. Try to get a table with a view of the harbor and Lews Castle. The hotel was a perfect base to explore the Callanish Stones and many other sights around the Isle of Lewis.

The County Hotel Stornaway

My stay at the hotel was for a single night and I found that, although elements of the building were slightly tiered it was actually very comfortable and the staff and owner very friendly, they even allowed us to charge our electric bikes from their laundry. The food was excellent and very fairly priced, I would definitely stay there again.

Amazing staff and service!

We have just checked out after staying 2 nights here and we could not fault this hotel at all. The service was amazing, every single member of staff was lovely and always took time for a quick chat. We also bought along our extra large dog and he was also made to feel as welcome as we were! The food was incredible both for evening meals and breakfast. I have not experienced customer service at this level in any hotel I have stayed in, the staff are an absolute credit to this hotel and were wonderful. Hugo absolutely loved is stay too! Thank you!

Natural Retreats Lews Castle

Perched on an ancient incline, with unbeatable views over the inky blue waters of Stornoway (keep your eyes peeled for the seals bobbing amongst the gentle waves!), this inspiring, gothic-revival style castle hails from the mid-1800’s. Commissioned by Sir James Matheson, its historic walls have harboured nobility, WW2 hospital patients, college students and school children, but now, after a dedicated restoration, has opened its doors to visitors from across the globe to enjoy and explore through a range of self catering apartments.

Lovely stay

Reviewed By Clemina

Beautiful place to stay. The bed in our room is the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in. Castle Cafe opens at 10am and serves lovely pancakes, waffles and breakfast rolls so even though this is not like a hotel ie there are facilities and staff around you can still get breakfast. It is nice arriving back from days out and having such a lovely room and being able to roam around the main castle rooms when they are closed to the public. It is a very short walk to the restaurants in Stornaway. Book before you come to Stornaway to be sure you can get a table.

Brilliant

Reviewed By Kim7961

Stayed here for 5 nights, Helen is the perfect hostess, the rooms are spotlessly clean and that’s a huge compliment coming from a cleaning freak! This was a family home now turned B&B, some rooms are en suite while other are shared bathroom but to be honest there’s only 4 rooms here and I would have quite willingly share a bathroom due to that fact, it comprises of a bath & a huge shower and you could hold a party in the bathroom as it’s huge! Helen provides an evening meal for a small cost if you wish which we found very helpful given the location is a little out of the way from Stornoway (a good 50 minute walk). I would highly recommend Lathamor.

Newly refurbished to a high standard; en-suites are all in marble. Wonderful south facing unrestricted sea views. LCD TVs in all rooms. Lounge has large 42 inch LCD and satellite TV with free use of large binocular. Free secure parking. Perfectly located near ferry terminal and airport yet only 10 minutes walk from centre of town.

Rooms and bathroom did not appear to be refurbished

We were extremely disappointed to find that there were 8 bedrooms ie up to 10 people sharing a bathroom and only two toilets between us. Appalling in this day and age. A man in a neighbouring room insisted on a long soak in the bath regardless of who might need the loo. This is more like a dated hostel. Avoid. We raised the high cost with the owner and his response was to suggest we moved eksewhere at 6pm. This is close to the ferry and the owner exploits this to the fiul.

Four Star B and B

Reviewed By JeffM110

Clach Gorm is the perfect marriage of boutique hotel and bed and breakfast, while host Mairi makes you feel as if your are a friend stopping by for a visit. Designed from the ground up as a B and B it is modern, luxurious, with fantastic light and views. It was the first B and B where we felt completely at ease wandering out into the common areas and relaxing with a book, to watch the huge TV or have a quiet drink. Mairi treats you like family and goes above and beyond. I made a passing comment about not finding any limes in the local Co-op to enjoy with the lovely Downpour Gin we’d picked up that day. An hour later as we settled into the living room for an evening G and T Mairi brought out a tray with a bucket of ice, glasses and fresh cut limes she’d picked up for us at Tesco. Wow! She also let my wife feed her sheep their morning snack. It was a highlight of her trip. We can’t recommend Clach Dorm more highly.
