Great hotel, but expected better dining experiences
Reviewed By MN2300The hotel is very inviting and consists of several sections with a nice outdoor space with lots of different seating arrangements. But it is located next to a busy road with the dolomites in the background; the road did interrupt the piece and view. We stayed 2 nights in the newest section of the hotel – in a “ Alpina Zirbe” room. The room was wonderful, spacious and nicely and naturally decorated with a great daybed. In the restaurant you are assigned the same table for breakfast and dinner throughout your stay – it is not what we would have preferred, but did experience the same concept at other hotels in the Northern part of Italy, so it might be the norm. We had a table in one of the “back rooms”, which meant that especially at breakfast you might be the only ones in the room. From our perspective it would make more sense to change the seating arrangements and if we had stayed longer than 2 nights we would have been really annoyed. At breakfast you could whenever possible seat people in the main dining room where you can enjoy the view. The breakfast is a combination of a buffet and several different dishes which you can order. We found the buffet to be a bit boring – lacking a bit of cold cut options and cheeses. Some of the vegetables had gotten really dry; seemed they had been cut the prior evening. The afternoon cake buffet – well…… both days we were there we came at the end of the time slot and it did not look very inviting, a bit “trashed”, signs for cake where only the sign was left and the cakes that were there were not very good. We did notice several other guests that took huge quantities so if that is what happens at the beginning of the service it is totally understandable that not much is left in the end, but the hotel should consider how this service can be approved. For dinner there are several dishes to choose from and you can order as much as you want. The first evening we did not order that much and the dishes we chose were not very big. The next evening we ordered one more dish each and that evening we apparently chose all the bigger dishes so we were very full in the end. Some of the dishes were very good and extremely tasty, but others were not the best – a spring roll that was not crisp at all, fried elements that had been fried prior to dinner so they were cold and a bit soggy. It feels a little bit like a factory and not that the dishes were prepared for us. For the price you pay, the ambience and the way the hotel markets itself, we had higher expectations. There is a little mismatch between the quality and the price especially around the dining experience.

Reviewed By stugolIf you like being pampered you cannot miss this hotel.Carole and Manfred run a very impressive hotel with an inventive cuisine better than some michelin restaurants i have eaten at ,a relaxing spa and spacious well furnished rooms.If you are sporty Manfred will take you skiing or cycling and the bar in the evening has a nice buzz.The village where the hotel is situated is very pretty and nearby there are scenic walks.This is my third stay in this hotel and the owners go beyond their duty .Highly recommended!

Transport to slope ski for free I recommend that place family, I sure you will spend a pleasant time without getting bored (and you can travel with you pet?)

Reviewed By Corrado RThis hotel is located in the village main square. It is probably the oldest in town, so the rooms are not new (at least ours) although they are clean and comfortable. The SPA area is well equipped. Dinner was pretty good and generous.

Reviewed By J MWe reserved a table for lunch and I really have nothing good to say about this place. Service was slow. Food not great. Portions were small. Price was high. The only nice thing about this place is the location. If you are hungry, don't go here.

Relaxing, accommodating, incredible location

Roland is incredibly communicative and receptive- he emailed with us extensively before the trip began to answer all of our questions. The rooms are spacious and clean with beautiful balconies. The saunas, pool and wellness center are extensive and relaxing. Breakfast is incredible, and dinner is delicious as well. The hotel is easily accessible by the 180 bus from Bolzano (the bus stop is very close to the hotel), and the same bus stop is used by all the ski resorts for transportation, and these passes are included in the hotel package. Ski rentals and snow shoe rentals are easy and close by, and mountain views are plentiful. We had the most incredible week in the mountains hiking, alpine and nordic skiing. We hope to be back soon- could not recommend highly enough!

The service was very personal and very friendly. Everyone knows everyone most likely even only after 3 days. Peter, our Sommelier, is very knowledgeable on the wines from the region. Go find him and he will take care of you on your whole stay. Would also recommend to try the Bowtech massage. It really works on you! the only thing I wished was offered is the winery tour around Bozen or Tramin area. It would be ideal for people who are wine lovers and don‘t want to drive after enjoying some wines. Other than that, it was a very memorable stay in Hotel Erica. Will definitely come back!

Very nice place, well suited for families
Reviewed By Robert DGreat place to stay with family. Food was excellent (although small children might not enjoy the various choices of the dinner menu), staff friendly and helpful. The spa with pool, sauna and steam bath was very nice and there was also possibility for massages. Bus to Obereggen ski resort took about 40 min and was about every 1 to 1 1/2 hours (a more regular frequency would be welcome - not the hotel’s responsibility). Rooms were very spacious and internet worked fine.
