Perfect Hospitality, Accommodations, and Views

Our favorite hotel in our 1 month tour of Italy. Plenty to do. Breakfast was amazing with fresh, ripe fruit, made-to-order eggs, delicious pastries, and excellent service. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is the best in Italy. Management should be proud of their team. Everyone went out of their way to make our visit fantastic. Excursions are vast and varied. We could spend a month and do something different each day. Hiking through the vineyards and olive trees was relaxing and peaceful. Our only disappointment was the e-bike excursion. One bicycle was not maintained properly and made the trek through The hills painful and frustrating. When we complained, nothing was done - not even an apology. But I believe they were an independent business from the hotel. That shouldn’t deter you from staying here. It is worth every single Euro!

Borgo La Casaccia

Borgo La Casaccia, renovated 01/2011, born from a medieval village, It is composed of 12 apartments which retain the original architecture of the 17th century, with the ceiling consists of wooden beams and florentine terra-cotta floors. All apartments are equipped with private bathroom, full kitchen and free Wi-Fi. In this way it's possible to enjoy both charm of History and modern features. La Casaccia is surrounded by a garden of 4600 sq.mt. with the characteristic plants of the Mediterranean: Olive, Oak, Rosemary, Strawberry Mimosa, Broom, etc. ..  In the garden there are two pools: the biggest of 25x5 meters (depth from 1 meter to 2.20 meters) and the smallest of 15x5 meters with separate area for children (depth: 1 m/50 cm ) The garden is completed by gazebo, tables, chairs, umbrellas, barbecue and a small play area for children.  About the location it is important to know that Borgo La Casaccia is only 1 km far from the center of Montaione (with bar / cafe, shops, local products etc. ..), and this ensures the proximity to supermarkets, restaurants and all necessary amenities. The village of Montaione  is in a strategic position and makes it an excellent starting point for exploring all of Tuscany: Florence and Siena are 1 hour's drive (and reachable by train), Lucca and Pisa are 60 km far , San Gimignano and Volterra, just 30 minutes by car.

Host makes this place even better!

We have family in Tuscany and were fortunate to be able to secure apartments at Borgo. The location and place were ideal. What took our stay over the top was its host, Francesco. His English is perfect. His strong background in travel, tourism and hospitality means he makes GREAT suggestions, tailors your experience to your needs, and attends to every detail. If booking availability allows, we suggest you describe your party to him and let him suggest which apartment best suits you. Some of us wanted one level, others wanted the spectacular views from one flight up. We all agreed we’d first choose Borgo when back in Italy visiting family there. (P.S. Don’t miss Volterra nearby!) Also the train service between Florence SMN and Castel di Fiorentino (sp?) is great.

Rustic and welcoming

I have to agree with previous reviews of this place and other things as well and it’s only because it’s a beautiful place that could be so much more beautiful and more impressive with some work. Yes the wifi is not great, the plants are overgrown, the door of our room does get stuck, the window of our bathroom offers little privacy, we had coffee/tea making facilities but only given 2 plastic cups, the bed does squeak and it could do with a slight paint touch up. However, the views are spectacular, it’s so peaceful and relaxing, the host(s) are so very friendly and welcoming, it is clean with a very good working bathroom and there is a fantastic restaurant just down the hill serving the best food around, Il Caminetto. If the place was fixed up and negatives turned around this place is a great way to stay in Tuscany. I suppose it depends what is important to you on a holiday. For us, we used it as our base and then went out every day to different places in our hire car so really we used it to sleep, leave our luggage, have use of a bathroom and for breakfast.

Borgo San Benedetto and Casa Masi are what dreams are made of; a secluded property in the middle of beautiful Tuscany, an incredibly kind and helpful staff, rooms and apartments that make you feel at home whilst being perfectly decorated. Tuscan food at its best and beauty all around. In a very “disturbed” world, the Masi family provides all of us with hospitality as it is meant to be. Extraordinary. Thank you !!

Amazing Villa, but lacked service

Reviewed By niquexplores

Lovely place, wonderful rooms and picturesque views. Our arrival experience with Marina was superb. She explained everything flawlessly and really was detailed with how things worked in the villa. Our only problem with our stay were the breakfast staff… They were really unfriendly and unaccommodating. It’s like it was an inconvenience to serve us. So sad. We smiled at them to at least get a smile back, but all we got are stares and empty greetings (sometimes reprimanding kind of response). Not sure why, maybe because we didn’t speak Italian? Anyway, that really turned us down. This review would have really been a 5 star review except for this detail which is the heart of hospitality.
