No hot water in the ladies’ loos

Reviewed By Talkischeap2

The Walpole Bay offers decadent charm, fabulous cream teas and friendly service, but the hot water taps in the ladies loo haven’t been working for months and it’s just not acceptable - it’s so unhygienic - especially as Covid19 lurks around every corner.

Disappointing stay - practical needs of a hotel are missing

Reviewed By Scenic785766

My husband and I visited Margate for a week day break. We were attending a concert at the Winter Gardens. The location is excellent for there, literally across the road. However, the room we stayed in (no 4) had no curtains - just flimsy cheap blinds. From 5am onwards we were woken with the light streaming in. So disappointing. The primary purpose of a hotel is to sleep. The rooms are very clean but this isn’t a venue worthy of the price tag. The online photos are misleading. We had a ‘king bed’ which was 2 singles without even a mattress topper to stop you falling down the middle. The bathrooms are equipped with tiny sinks and there’s nowhere to put your luggage. Badly designed. It’s fine, but lacks the quality and attention to detail you’d expect for the price. Much better places to stay in the local area so give this one a miss. Also- they don’t give guests a key to the front door so you have to wait to get in every time. Really irritating.

molds in the room

There was a large area of molds in the wall behind the single bed where my daughter slept. This cause an allergic reaction on my wife. She had a clogged nose, itchy eyes and she was sneezing all night.

Great guesthouse stay

Reviewed By 808sew

Five of us stayed for a night in three of the rooms with shared bathrooms, for a mini-reunion and to see Sister Sledge at Dreamland. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and decorated so creatively, and the shared bathrooms were spotless. Tracey and Colin were friendly and chatty and couldn't have done more for us during our stay. I particularly appreciated the additional provisions made for my 'health' issue, I would have really struggled otherwise. Breakfast tasted great and was booked in advance. Parking is plentiful and free. The location is central - we walked to and from the town centre multiple times and the sea is even closer! We had a lovely time here and next time I'm in Margate I look forward to returning.

Everyone we interacted with were so helpful, friendly, fun and dedicated to making sure the trip was the best ever. The attention to detail at the hotel is brilliant, the decor - divine. Clean , quiet and friendlt

Reviewed By 576carolynk

Had a very enjoyable stay. My priority is cleanliness and the room was absolutely spotless. The ensuite in particular was absolutely gleaming. Located in a quiet street , there are several nice cafes at either of the street for breakfast or lunch. Margate central is about a 20 minute walk.If you don't fancy the walk you can catch a bus at the top of the street. Which run about every 7 minutes. This includes "The Loop" bus which is really handy for visiting Ramsgate and Broadstairs. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. We choose not to have our room cleaned every day , but we could have done, and the staff happily kept us topped up with coffee sachets etc. Reception is manned 24 hours and again everyone was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again

Great Pub/hotel

Reviewed By RonnieM250

We recently spent a week at The Hussar whilst working in the area, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This is a family owned and run pub/hotel with good food and beer, friendly and welcoming staff, customers and the owners couldn't do enough for us. The food is really good with the Thai food an absolute treat. Live music is an unexpected bonus. Our room was clean and comfortable, free WiFi is good and easily accessible. Thanks you and best wishes for the future
