Nice place but need to improve the comfort. A master suite was requested but the bad was small and uncomfortable for me because I have 2m high. There were no towels available in the bathroom. We call the front desk requesting a juice and they server the juices without allowing us to choose. We decide to move and spend the night in other place. Thank’s. VM.

World Class Hotel - For a Price

Reviewed By Fantajan

Luanda is an incredibly expensive city. Hotels that are of a quality that international travelers expect come at a steep price. The Epic Sana is no exception. The hotel is centrally located, a short walk from the Marginal. It is in the middle of a busy neighborhood so access is a little hectic with only a small circular driveway which is always busy with cars picking up and dropping off guests. The reception area is light and airy and the staff are professional and most speak very good English. The check in process was relatively efficient although I will note that they struggled a bit with American credit cards - I needed to try a few different ones and then it went through when the charges were in Euro. It was the same story in the hotel's restaurants so I found it easier to charge my meals to the room and then pay everything at once. The rooms were really very nice with a huge, comfortable bed, a big flat screen television and a little table with chairs where I could work. My room had a great view of the city and the Marginal which was equally stunning during the day and at night with the city lights. The rooms have mini bars and they provide complimentary bottles of water. There are a variety of restaurants at the hotel as well as a coffee shop I really enjoyed the floor above the reception. They make good coffee and serve them with really fancy tea cookies. On the same floor there is an outdoor restaurant on the patio with great views of the city, There is also an Italian restaurant - the pizza was just ok, the pasta was decent, and the bread plate was a welcome addition at the beginning. Like the hotel rooms, the food is really expensive and it was hard to stomach paying $25 for a plate of pasta but you really don't have much of a choice if you eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet is included in the room rate and was very good with an omelet station (which was always super busy), fruit, cheese, charcuterie, pastries, and a few hot selections (potatoes, beans, sausages, and the like). Because of COVID (I assume), they do not let you serve yourself. Instead a waiter walks around with you serves you whatever you want. You can get a really filling meal that will fuel you for the better part of the day. I didn't have time to check out the gym and spa but hope to do so during my next stay.

Basic Stay; Not what I expected

Reviewed By Judy N

If looking for a comfortable, clean bed, at an affordable rate, then this is the place. There is not much glamor here. The suite is equivalent to a one bedroom apartment. However, no coffee was provided just tea, no sockets in the kitchen, drinking water was not replenished after the second night. There is no view at all, in fact kept the curtains drawn. I asked for a room change since the hotel was very empty but was given an excuse about the other side of the hotel being noisy. That was not the case. There is no sea view room given the hotel is in downtown. Service is okay but breakfast is the same limited selection every night. You get either, fish, chicken or steak for lunch and dinner. Cable barely works and has a frosty picture, only news channel available was BBC. It's close to the airport, however, so not much traffic. ATM is nearby and a pharmacy if you need one. It was a decent stay and definitely a three star as there is much to improve on. Language is a barrier as staff know limited English. The WiFi was horrible, hardly worked in the room and kept disconnecting, had to keep finding a new connection. The hotel is old, come with an international adapter as one is not provided. Note that the hotel does not have a PDQ machine, payment is made on an online portal.

Great facilities from car park, rooms, meeting/conference rooms, gymnasium, garden, swimming pool and top bar. Best view all around. Best Hotel in Luanda/Angola with prices around 30% of the so called or supposedly best hotels. Great family to come as couple, friends or business team. Hotel Tropico

The hotel was founded in 1973, and since then, history has been written by those who pass through and always return. The renewal that was carried out has given Trópico a new lease of life, without letting go of the tradition that makes it one of the references in Luanda. The warm colours of Africa combined with a cosmopolitan and modern design are the key to guests feeling the art of hospitality and excellent service provided by the hotel. Fully equipped meeting rooms with the most up-to-date technology, a Health Club and Spa, as well as a delightful pool bar, make this the ideal location for corporate events or business accommodation. If you are travelling for leisure, you can equally enjoy the hotel’s facilities, the quality of its excellent services and discover the city of Luanda from a privileged location.

Nice Hotel, Million Dollar Sea View

Reviewed By Zebra X

Another business trip to Angola. Was not the right time to be in Angola or for that matter anywhere in Africa due to the new variant of the virus but the trip was very essential and had to travel with all the precautions. I chose to stay at Hotel President although there were other choices. Since i was staying for the first time in this hotel i did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is old, but all the rooms are renovated, and the bathrooms decked in white marble tiles that give the bathrooms a bright airy look. The hotel itself is located close to Luanda Port and most of the rooms give a sweeping view of the Luanda waterfront called as" Marginal". Look at the pictures taken from my room. I was fortunate to get a corner room that gave a 180-degree view of the Luanda bay. The room was small, but the size of the room was more than compensated by the large bay windows that made the room look bright and airy. Especially good if one is quarantined in the room for 2 weeks and not allowed to leave the room. I was fortunate to not be in quarantine. The bathroom was nicely renovated with wall to floor white marble tiles with large windows. A welcome respite from the dark dingy bathrooms in some of the hotels that i had stayed. Unfortunately, there was no hot water kettle or coffee making services provided in room and neither was there any iron/ironing board. I have stayed in hotels that did not have ironing board/iron provided but water kettle and coffee was always provided. I have therefore deducted one star. The Eight Floor houses the restaurants and the bar. Restaurants are closed for dinner due to COVID restrictions but open for breakfast. Breakfast spread is good but will be better if they can add more varieties like sliced breads and milk and cereals. Service staff are courteous and speak good English. Room TV has international TV channels available and if you are bored with a little bit of ingenuity can hook up your laptop to watch Netflix. Overall a pleasant stay at a slightly pricey hotel.
