Reviewed By TruthTravelerThis is a four star hotel that provides a five star laid back experience. It is not overtly luxurious, but comfortable in a family hotel sort of way. We spent 5 nights there - two of us in the big family suite on the top floor and one in a single. The views are great from all sea-view rooms. The suites are large with two balconies. It is very close to the ferry port and the city ( but not in the heart of the madding crowd ) and we walked back and forth regularly. The staff is universally friendly, helpful, professional and "can do." The pool is great. The included buffet breakfast is extensive and very good. The restaurant is also very good and not particularly overpriced. The only issue that I had with the Hotel Mea was the mattress on my bed - it was thin, hard and left me with many backaches in the morning. I'm not sure that every room had the same kind of mattress ( my sublings had no problem with theirs) , but they should consider replacing the one I had! You really won't go wrong here. Happy Trails.

Reviewed By phat_dawg_21We were a bit apprehensive because the hotel is not near the marina or Centro Storico, but our fears were quickly gone when we called from the ferry dock and the van quickly came to pick us up. We learned that they have regular shuttle service to two points in the village and the drivers were always on time and very courteous. Antonio seemed to drive us the most and he always greet us with a cheery “good morning” regardless of the time of day. The room was spacious and comfortable, with good Wi-Fi. We enjoyed our terrace with a table and chairs. It was a nice place to check email. The bath was large and well organized with nice amenities and large towels. Breakfast was way above average. The man who took care of the buffet was energetic and eager to serve. Ornella at reception was always ready with a recommendation or helpful tip and steered us to a beach hopping service and at least one great restaurant. We just can’t stress enough how great the people were! They made our three night stay so enjoyable.

Only criticism was the tiny bathroom shower which was very small in our friends seaview superior room! Our superior room was fabulous but some are in need of updating or renaming as ‘standard’ not superior

The rooms are equipped of: multifunctional showers , hair dryer , natural latex hypoallergenic mattresses, flat screen TV, minibar, safe deposit box,Telephone, internet access and air-conditioning.The Hotel “Aktea” has a comfortable bar, a mediterranean restaurant overlooking on the lovely pool made of mosaic with jacuzzi chairs, one more swimming pool for the youngest , a luxuriant Mediterranean garden , a big conference room with communicating rooms suitable for conferences and special events.

Reviewed By Natalie LWe had initially booked the Hotel Mea across the street but they cancelled our reservation the day before we were to arrive with no explanation except that they had issues and had transferred our reservation to Hotel Aktea. This was an excellent move at Hotel Aktea was perfect. The shuttle service to and from the port, the rooms are very comfortable, the terrace was an added bonus even if the view of the patio below is not great, the morning breakfast was very nice and prepared early, the staff at the reception were polite and helpful, and the hotel is very well located so that one can easily walk to downtown. Like most pools in Europe, the water is quite cold. The sea view is a stretch as the ocean is quite far... but we were very happy with this hotel.

Nicola is a nice and thoughtful host, he was always happy to give us good advice and recommendations that contributed to making our trip to Lipari truly unforgettable. The property is centrally located in the village of Canneto, which is well connected to the town of Lipari by a regular shuttle service. Restaurants, bars, bakeries, beaches, tours providers and anything else you could possibly need is within short walking distance. Our room was clean and the breakfast was always rich and varied. Nicola and his B&B deserve our best recommendation.

Services: internal restaurant " La Lampara " where you can taste typical dishes of Aeolian and Sicilian traditional cooking; panoramic breakfast room, cocktail-bar, room service, laundry, solarium, baby sitting, free internet point and connection wi-fi ( area hall ) free, private parking, garage, free shuttle bus transfer service in arrival and departure, free scheduled shuttle bus from/to the centre , swimming pool. The hotel has a convention with an external restaurant, same property "Al Pescatore" located in the square near the sea named Marina Corta, connected with a free shuttle service from/to the hotel.
Quiet and beautiful hotel atop the hill
Reviewed By AX1890The hotel is perfectly located a little bit outside town (10 minute walk) and up hill so you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea, mountains and town. The pictures definitely not make enough justice to the place as is way nicer. Rooms are spacious, quiet and with nice terraces and balconies. The staff is beyond amazing, all very nice, kind and friendly, they make you feel at home. The food is delicious, and all the freshly baked cakes they have for breakfast, I wish I had another stomach. The area of the pool is nice and quiet, and the water temperature is refreshing for hot summer months on the island.

Those in search of culture, on the other hand, have only a 5-minute walk to reach Lipari’s Castle, which has a museum and an archaeological garden, and the Cathedral with its cloister.

Reviewed By christinen956Wonderful for family holiday, we stayed 4 nights, sad to leave. Good breakfast, clean rooms, NO LIFT, 3 flights of stairs. Will check in future re level of accommodation as difficult when getting older. Would recommend, friendly staff. Loved Lipari.

Ripped off
Reviewed By valleygirl666We stayed two nights at the Tritone Hotel and was charged €40 extra for our 4 year old son, who slept in our double bed. This is a first after 4 yrs of travelling all around the world with him☹ The staff at the front desk were unfriendly & unhelpful when we said we were not happy with paying the extra €40. We wouldn't have minded paying it if they had provided a bed for him, but they told us that would cost a lot more and the extra €20 per night was for our sons breakfast. A 4 year old does not eat €20 worth of breakfast per morning(he ate 1 roll with jam). We tried to show them the booking (attached below) as this shows 0-2 year old with cot is €15 extra and over 5 year old with additional bed is extra. There's nothing about a 4 year old with no additional bed and having to sleep with his parents in a double bed. On Sat morning, we waited 35 minutes for a waiter to come over to us at Breakfast. We watched 5 tables come and go after us whilst waiting to be served. In the end, we had to go up and tell a waiter that we had been waiting 35 minutes and people arriving after us were served before us. We were very happy to finally get breakfast. On the plus side, the waiters at the pool were lovely and the 'massage' was very, very good.
