Lovely hotel, but beware the steps!!!
Reviewed By Alex RLovely, clean, and modern hotel, with friendly staff and really good food (we stayed B&B and there was plenty of choice for all tastes). We stayed in a Superior room which had a kettle and a decent-sized fridge, air conditioning and a balcony overlooking the sea. We had a small issue with the air conditioning unit leaking; the staff resolved it really quickly. Ideally located at the edge of Koutoulafari, which although small has ample bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel is a minute’s walk from the edge of the village. The only downside to this hotel (and I am being very picky here) is that it is situated on a steep hill so you have to deal with a lot of steep steps either to get down to the pool and bar or up the village. People with mobility issues or small children would struggle. Other than that, it was the perfect base for us for our trip.

I have been going back year after year and can not fault the villages , the people and the overall experience. My special praise goes to Yoirgos, and his parents at Pilots Villa, they make a holiday into a home from home. I was staying in the same excellent room from last September and waking up on the first day it felt like i had not left at all. I was so relaxed and welcomed that the worries and lack of sleep ( late flight ) washed away. Cant wait till im back again in September. I whole heartedly recommend a visit. Like me and others who i meet year after year, once you stay you wont want to go anywhere else.

Reviewed By Charlotte HWhat a truly wonderful place to spend our very belated honeymoon. The hotel, vila and views are simply stunning. We couldn’t fault anything about our stay. The food was amazing and we ate in the restaurant every night on half board and really couldn’t fault any of it. Unfortunately I had an accident near the beginning and badly injured my ankle. All the staff went out of their way to help me. Special mentions go to George the owner/ manager who from the 1st email was so friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome. Also to Leta who looked after us and our villa so well and went out of her way to help me after my accident, she felt like family. Lavinia in the restaurant was lovely and incredibly knowledgeable about everything especially the wine as a trained Sommelier. The barman Costas was brilliant in helping carry me to the ambulance and afterwards. We spoke to so many people that return year after year and we really hope to be returning again soon.

Reviewed By Gary SStayed in 1 bed with private pool. Outside terrace and pool space exceptional. Inside not quite as good for 4 with 2 teenagers. Lived out of our cases as not much storage. Door handle hanging off the bathroom door. Cleaners work very hard. There ever day and do a great job. Reception very friendly helpful staff. Views good and local village nice, Hotel was ok for families but more suitable for couples and the retired. It was a bit too quiet for us to the point where you could hear a pin drop day or evening. Great if your searching for total piece and quiet. Nearest Beeches are very poor in nearby hersonisos. Small and messy with bottles and cans when we visited. That town is great if your 18 to 25 no doubt.

I loved staying there, view was amazing, very clean, nice little bathroom, separated bedroom with very comfortable bed. Little kitchen with everything what you need, we didn't cook at apartment, but there was pot's and pan's. Lounge was big with dinning table, coffe table and huge couch, beautiful terrace. Everything was really nice with a lot of small sophisticated details, that you feel like you are in your own summer house. I really loved breakfast that we was getting every morning in basket, it was so sweet and beautiful, in little jar's we was getting every morning orange juice, Greek yogurt, honey, jam, home made bread and cake, eggs and a lot of other things, I just loved breakfast in the morning. Owner Kate is very welcoming and she did this place to perfection. Pool is big and really clean. And don't miss restoran in Iokasti, is definitely best restoran in the village. We will definitely coming back, i just loved this place.

Reviewed By joshuaaW3710DAWe were delightfully welcomed by all the staff at Galaxy Villa when we arrived late at night. The complex is lovely looking with an average size pool and plenty room for sunbathing, with the sun catching every spot. Our room was very basic, me and my partner were very disappointed with it, no door on the bedroom meant easy access for mosquitos, more so unable to get them out via the air con due it costing 8 euro a day which is a farce. We requested a double bed but was given two singles, I think that is all that was available however when accommodating couples, you'd expect a double bed. The breakfast was lovely, offering pastries, sausage, bacon and egg, toast, coffee, fruit and rolls with ham and cheese to fill. A great range to set you for the day. Galaxy Villa was in the centre of Koutoulafari, a beautiful village full of amazing restaraunts with stunning views. I would seriously recommend staying in Koutoulafari and really experience the true greek culture. A quick points on how Galaxy Villas could improve: - Invest in another toaster - Pool is very deep, very quick. Not ideal for children Overall, Galaxy Villa is a well kept, well loved and known hotel with very friendly staff always there to help. Thank you all for a lovely holiday.

The hotel feels very chilled, nothing is to much trouble for the staff. The breakfast is honestly the best I have ever had. Also great bathroom - really nice shower with a glass shower door.

Superb resort
Reviewed By cate445The Village Holiday Club in Koutouloufari is superb. It is small and quaint, tucked in the hills. Very quiet, although we were there at the end of the season. The Village itself is a bustling hive of activity with more restaurants and bars than you could possibly visit in 2 weeks. Hersonissos town is a 15 minute downhill walk where you can find more shops, bars and lovely beaches as well as children's entertainment. Highly recommend this resort. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly always ready with a tip or 2 another to go and what to see. Recommend getting a car to explore the island or chase the sun if the clouds linger on the mountain

A really lovely holiday BUT....
Reviewed By JanKirMy partner and I arrived late evening to a warm welcome from Vagelis the very charming and lovely barman who showed us to our apartment which was split level with the bedroom and shower room being downstairs. On reflection we thought that for our needs a single level apartment would be more suitable and asked if we could possibly change apartments. This was done within minutes and we were shown to a single level apartment with all the necessary requirements for our stay. A clean, comfortable bed, shower room and little kitchen/sitting area leading out onto a small patio area with table and chairs and clothes rack. The bedding and towels were changed and the apartment serviced frequently during our stay by the lovely, very hardworking Miranda. Joanna who works at the pool bar and the upstairs rooftop bar was also a pleasure to meet. She was so pleasant, articulate and kind not to mention hardworking, providing tasty, freshly cooked food from the menu if requested. The BUT in my review title and only downside to our holiday was the fact that the two idiots in room 105 were unable to conduct themselves with any thought for the other guests staying in the complex. They were loud, played loud music and got louder still once the alcohol and openly smoked marijuana kicked in! We were awakened early Sunday morning to loud banging and shouting, one of the idiots was locked out of their shared room and was trying to get in by taking a wooden chair to the door after seemingly knocking on other guests doors asking to be let in! The broken chair and scarred door were left for someone else to deal with while he decided to sleep it off on a sun lounger by the pool. This was unacceptable behaviour by any standard and senior management should have dealt with this pair to ensure that other paying guests were not further subjected to their loutish behaviour. Joanna was staying overnight that night and was also shaken by the experience and she certainly wasn’t expected to approach and try to deal with these two. However since they seemed to go from bad to worse it appears that they were given free rein to behave as they wished. So an otherwise lovely holiday tarnished by the behaviour of two grown men and a seeming lack of management intervention.

Petra Village is a pretty complex on the outskirts of the peaceful Koutouloufari. All roms have delightful views of the surrounding countryside and provide the perfect spot to unwind. There are six blocks which are traditional in appearance but are fitted out with mod cons and are brightly decorated and furnished. Featuring studios, apartments and maisonettes, all rooms come with kitchenette facilities, bathroom and hairdryer. All rooms are fully cleaned and towels changed two times a week. Bed linen is changed once a week.

Reviewed By emmanB171DQAfter having issues arriving because of cancelled and overbooked flights we finally got to petra village and had the best holiday, making it all worth it! It is a family run place and all the staff are so friendly, fun and helpful. The cleaners are lovely and came nearly everyday, even doing our washing up for us a couple of times and we spoke through translation on their phones which was no problem at all. There were lots of people staying who have come before as they enjoyed it so much and they were all welcoming and great fun. The grounds of the apartments were full of beautiful plants and trees and well looked after. We stayed in D block with a great view and had no issue walking up to it, they did tell us they try to put older people or those with mobility issues further down if theyre informed but this didnt effect us. The apartments are basic but have all you need really. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby in the village as well as down into Hersonissos. We enjoyed walking everywhere, theres no hill to the villages but there is a little hill up from Hersonissos but its equally as easy to book taxis or hire cars/bikes/quads if thats suited to you. We recommend signing up for the Cretan dancing BBQ night at the hotel, we had so much fun! When we left we got hugs from staff and friends we made. It felt very sad to be going, it was like being part of a family there was a very warm atmosphere! Thank you so much we hope to be back again! :) - emma & hettie
