Reviewed By alwaysforthepeopleCome here for some drinks with close friends the atmosphere was lovely very relaxed and we were all super impressed with the stunning service off our bar man Henry he was very ultra helpful and nothing was too much trouble other members off staff should take note from him as he is a good ambassador for the pub and an example on how it should be done remember the old saying it’s not about the place it’s the people comes to mind we will definitely be back if only to see Henry and listen to his great taste in music A++++

There is a nice bar area, which was well used by a wedding party. In addition to the bar there is a choice of dining rooms, one being casual dining and the other more formal. The food was very good indeed, I had a 10 oz sirloin which seems to be an unusual weight these days, and I really enjoyed it. In addition the location offers good links to motorway and main A roads as the hotel is situated a short drive from Junction 36 of the M6. The Westmorland County Showground is also close by.

Reviewed By IlovetobeonholidayA little disappointed with our stay . Returning after a few years absence we were saddened to find things not quite as perfect as they were. Some of the staff were excellent and a few couldn't really be bothered eg in the bar. The room was lovely and comfortable but in a hotel that was by no means full why give a guest the most distant room from reception which was a long walk and included several flights of stairs with no lift. The food menu was a lot smaller than it used to be and that's acceptable given the times we've come through but there aren't any specials to make a longer stay more interesting. The lamb rump was especially good. Service at dinner was excellent. Breakfast was disappointing. There were masses of lovely precooked bacon, sausage etc on the servery but when we got the food back to the table the bacon was only just warm. I think it needed turning more often to keep it evenly heated. The rest of the breakfast, beans, mushrooms, eggs were hot and tasty. The swimming pool and steam room were fine and the facilities very clean. I'm sure we'll return as the views from the hotel are magnificent and generally the hotel tries hard to please. Staff just need a bit more ooomph and positivity to make the hotel a knockout again

Reviewed By Marting9428Stayed for 3 weeks on business. The premier plus room upgrade is well worth it. Staff are exceptional, always smiling and ready to help any way they can. Unfortunately I can't quite remember names, but the reception staff and breakfast staff were outstanding. Thanks for a comfortable stay guys

Reviewed By shelaghherefordBit disappointed that when we got to our room it was an adjoining room with just a door between us and next room. We weren’t advised of this when we booked. The receptionist was unable to move us as fully booked but did reduce the rate. This was a shame as the staff were lovely and both our evening meal and breakfast were good. If you book - make sure you ask for a room that isn’t an adjoining one, unless you want to hear your neighbour’s TV and conversation!

Reviewed By lcarte413601This accommodation met our needs for a two night walking escape. Room big enough for two, it was clean and had tea and coffee, refills provided with no hassle, shower could have been higher but no probs.

From beginning of November 2015 the Gilpin Bridge Inn has been taken over by locals & we plan to put this Inn back on the map. We have 8 letting rooms all with ensuite. A function room for your parties, meetings etc. A great selection on our menus both lunch & evening and on a Sunday we serve a traditional sunday lunch which can be accompanied by a cheeky pint or maybe a cup of coffee. When visiting you will only find the staff with a big smile, a great sense of humour & more than happy to help you so please visit & make yourself at home in our traditional country inn.

Reviewed By LizzieM393Just back from a fab 5 days on the lakes. We were gifted from our children a break and their choice was spot on for us. From fabulous Sunday roasts to filling English breakfasts everything was just great. All staff were amazing, the team works so hard and the landlord and land lady are on hand for anything even the extra teabags when you've run out. This Inn was chosen as it was close to a fast charger for our car. If anything this is all I would add to this hotel would be a charge point. Thanks again to you all.

Fab food and service!
Reviewed By bby6luePopped in here on our way through to Keswick. It was a gem of a find. Staff were excellent. The young gentleman who took our purser was lovely. Food just as nice! Couldn’t fault it. Wish it was more local! Dog friendly too. We had the burger and fish and chips.

Reviewed By Sparkydave86We visited the Punch Bowl last week to celebrate a family birthday occasion Staff were very welcoming and pleasant, plenty of choice for food and drink and the food was superb! Portions were brilliant and definitely ‘home cooked’ food. Highly recommended.
