Absolutely horrible experience. No place for a family visit, let alone the stay. This place basically becomes a dance bar at night. The staff is polite and helping but the problem is that this place has no reguler/regulations hence it has become a haven for Drinking, Drugs and all kinds of unscrupulous activities. Families stay away!

Neemrana's - Piramal Haveli

Baggar is the region of the painted havelis (mansions), where the Marwaris, India’s wealthiest community, originated and once lived. They were the merchant community of Rajasthan and traded treasures with caravans which passed this way on the Southern Silk Route, bartering silk with opium, porcelain with spices. From 1820 onwards they migrated to the ports of Calcutta and Bombay, to become intermediaries in the vast marine trade the British conducted at the height of their Pax Britannica. The Marwaris amassed huge fortunes, and even today control virtually every sector of the modern Indian economy. The Piramal Haveli in Baggar is a Rajasthani-Italianate villa in the desert and is Shekhavati’s closest hotel to Delhi. It was built in 1928 with a large open garden and two pillared courtyards painted with colourful kitsch frescoes of flying angels, airplanes, and gods in motor cars. These add a special charm to this mansion reflecting the British presence in Jaipur since 1803. The gate of the village, which is a part of the haveli, was built by Seth Piramal to welcome the Maharaja of Jaipur on elephant back. Serving the famed local vegetarian cuisine, the legendary Marwari thalis get seasoned gourmets guessing about the mysterious desert savours and spices which are in those little bowls ! This was the home of Seth Piramal Chaturbhuj Makharia from 1892 to 1958 whose fortune was made in Bombay, trading in cotton, opium, silver and other commodities. Walk out to Shekhavati’s painted streets – an open-air gallery of frescoes. Discover the lost villages – a fascinating adventure in itself, using Baggar as the base. As pillared corridors lead you into the past, the floors will tell their own chequered history. Have tea with the peacocks who are literally the house sparrows of The Piramal Haveli ! Be surprised with sudden colour among the monotony of the desert. When you stay at The Piramal Haveli you join Shekhavati’s fight to retain its magnificent heritage structures by making restoration a viable, self-sustainable tourism activity.

Reconnect with yourself

Reviewed By Mitin_K_Kumar

A home away from home is how I'd describe the stay experience. One of the least explored of Neemrana properties in North India, it's a traditional haveli converted into a heritage hotel and situated right at the entry to the laidback Bagar town in the Shekhavati region of Rajasthan. Fortunately enough, we had the whole place to ourselves for most part of the stay and hence the staff was courteous enough to accord personal attention to us. A point I'd like to make here having stayed at the numerous Neemrana properties: the manager was mildly rude on couple of instances, something which we never experienced at a Neemrana. Otherwise the staff was mostly good & well behaved. Coming to the place itself: it's well maintained with nothing much to do except relax to drive away the city blues. Just perfect!

Castle Mandawa Hotel

Like many historic homes, Castle Mandawa is a curious mixture of the old and the new. Medieval turreted towers, palanquin-roofed balconies, blend with modern comforts in old-world rooms. Family portraits, antique cannons and arms add to the charm of this family-run resort where tradition still runs strong. Today, the world comes to this storybook town to see its colourful frescoes on every subject under the sun, that is, ranging from the religious to the erotic; from copies of popular English prints to witty social satire, rendered in the inimitable style of the local artist. And perhaps the best place to discover the legacy of Shekhawati is from the comfort of Castle Mandawa, a fortress, now converted into a luxurious heritage hotel. Explore Castle Mandawa at your own pace. Spend a leisurely hour over a drink in the colonial verandah that accommodates the bar, or relax in the cosy comfort of the Diwankhana, the formal drawing room decorated with family portraits and an array of antique armour.

Alsisar Mahal is the battle hardened palace in the town of Alsisar in Shekhawati Region of Rajasthan. Earlier Alsisar Mahal was the residence of the Thakur of Alsisar, which is recently renovated and refurbished into a luxurious heritage hotel. Alsisar, famous for castles, Havelis and Cenotaphs is a small town surrounded by semi arid desert, situated in the north-western part of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan. It originated in the form of small Havelis' collection in the town and later developed in the form of huge havelis which today stands tall and leaves a history behind them. There are hundreds of havelis in this area which bear the wonderful fresco paintings in various everlasting colours and designs. Each speaks with full throated ease about the glorious past of Shekhawati. They are the masterpiece of art and architecture created centuries ago. This is the reason the land of Alsisar Mahal is popularly known as open art gallery.

Special Haveli and Wonderful Management

We already have most 5 star reviews on the page and one additional review will not make much difference. However, coming to major points- The owner and manager will go beyond all levels to give perfect service to the guests. Many movie stars and supporting staff stay in this nice maintained Air-conditioned haveli. They gave 30% discount on food without even being asked. Multiple calls made during local visit and got positive replies each time without any hesitance. A return gift for each occupant, we had 6 people in 2 rooms- they could have given only 2. My mother has knee problems, so we were upgraded to premium suite on ground floor on complementary basis. We were also taken to a nearby mandawa haveli to get photos clicked with Punjabi actors- Ammy Virk/ Neerju Bajwa on request made by Radhika haveli owner. We recommend to book this Perfect weekend destination without any second thought. On our first external glance, it looked an old heritage property but soon after checking In, we were mesmerized during each second of stay.
