10 hotels in Isle of Wight: Best hotel deals for 2023

August 6, 2022 Oliva Fomby

The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy some peace, quiet and natural beauty. Except perhaps in the summer, when the Isle of Wight Festival draws visitors from all over the world. In 1970, the Festival was the largest rock-music event ever held. It was called Britain's Woodstock and featured Jimi Hendrix and The Who. (Not so much peace or quiet that week.) The island is also known for its world-famous sailing and lovely resorts, where people have been vacationing since Victorian times.

We had a lovely spacious quiet room at the top of the hotel. Food and water bowls were provided for our dog, Annie and towels at the entrance of the hotel for muddy paws. The breakfast was superb, freshly cooked and Annie enjoyed her specially prepared sausage each morning. The location was ideal, opposite a park for early morning dog walks and very close to Shanklin chine and the village of Shanklin. We would definitely return

Would Definitely Stay Here Again

We spent seven nights here and we picked it because of the location which is excellent. The room was a little bit smaller than we had hoped for but it was clean, well serviced and had an excellent view. There is good parking but no wifi so you need to sign up to their cloud. All the staff (from Sean the General Manager to housekeeping) were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent breakfast. Great restaurant. I’m gluten free and they have a good understanding of allergies. Finally, we loved the way they surprised us at dinner when they found out it was our anniversary 

Very poor

My partner and I booked this hotel through Booking.com admittedly last minute. The room was nothing like the pictures shown, it turns out they had overbooked and juggled rooms around to accommodate. After complaining to the hotel manager he did refund one of the two nights booked, admitting there had been major problems with the booking system, but we would have much preferred the room we had booked. The place looks very tired, dirty and run down, the bedroom carpet was very heavily stained.(see pics) Sorry I couldn’t bring myself to look at the mattress hence we slept on top of the bed. At breakfast the food was passable but there was a dead decomposed fly on the table and it was quite obvious it hadn’t been sat at for sometime. The window sill next to our table had at least 5 dead flies on it too and when pointed out to staff he said ‘oh dear that’s not good’ it had been cleaned the following morning, thankfully we were shown to another table. (Sorry no pics as phone left in the room) The lifts to the upper floors were out of order. Most of the hotel occupants were elderly and found it impossible to climb four flights of stairs. We did feel we were holidaying at Faulty Towers! Not recommend to the faint hearted! We certainly will not be returning. Booking.com have also been informed as the hotel desk manager tried to say the pictures they show are generic suggesting they were falsely advertising ..
