Would not change a thing!

We were a bit apprehensive because the hotel is not near the marina or Centro Storico, but our fears were quickly gone when we called from the ferry dock and the van quickly came to pick us up. We learned that they have regular shuttle service to two points in the village and the drivers were always on time and very courteous. Antonio seemed to drive us the most and he always greet us with a cheery “good morning” regardless of the time of day. The room was spacious and comfortable, with good Wi-Fi. We enjoyed our terrace with a table and chairs. It was a nice place to check email. The bath was large and well organized with nice amenities and large towels. Breakfast was way above average. The man who took care of the buffet was energetic and eager to serve. Ornella at reception was always ready with a recommendation or helpful tip and steered us to a beach hopping service and at least one great restaurant. We just can’t stress enough how great the people were! They made our three night stay so enjoyable.

Molto Bene

Reviewed By TruthTraveler

This is a four star hotel that provides a five star laid back experience. It is not overtly luxurious, but comfortable in a family hotel sort of way. We spent 5 nights there - two of us in the big family suite on the top floor and one in a single. The views are great from all sea-view rooms. The suites are large with two balconies. It is very close to the ferry port and the city ( but not in the heart of the madding crowd ) and we walked back and forth regularly. The staff is universally friendly, helpful, professional and "can do." The pool is great. The included buffet breakfast is extensive and very good. The restaurant is also very good and not particularly overpriced. The only issue that I had with the Hotel Mea was the mattress on my bed - it was thin, hard and left me with many backaches in the morning. I'm not sure that every room had the same kind of mattress ( my sublings had no problem with theirs) , but they should consider replacing the one I had! You really won't go wrong here. Happy Trails.

Great location, subpar service, cleanliness, and breakfast

Reviewed By 376dilettaa

Premise: I stayed at Dream just before the season started (end of May) - so I guess they were still getting everything ready and could cut them some slack for this reason. Still, if the place is open I expect same level of service no matter what time of they year. The location itself is very special. You’ll stay in a Dammuso - typical housing on the Island - with a breathtaking sea view. Rooms are very basic but minimal and cute, and always very clean. However, bathrooms are a bit small and with poor lighting. The real issue for us was service and cleanliness of common areas. When we were there they were having clear staffing issues (I guess pretty common post Covid but still, guests should never be aware of these things), and that so clearly reflected on the level of service provided. I believe it also had to do with inexperienced management. For instance, the pool area was always quite dirty and looked sloppy. Nobody would clean up towels or drinks/food left behind. The pool bathroom was filthy - to the point that I would not use it and walk (quite a long way) to my room instead. I was working remotely and would use common outdoor tables everyday - I had to clean them up myself cause nobody ever did (Pantelleria is a very windy island so outdoor facilities get dirty pretty easily). When we brought this up with staff we were told the lifeguard who was supposed to pick up all these tasks had not arrived yet (??). But nobody would do it in the meantime and they’d instead leave the place dirty. Additionally, breakfast was extremely disappointing. Their breakfast menu on the website does not reflect reality. In addition to the fact that breakfast was presented in a very sloppy way - indoor buffet with very cheap silverware and napkins + food badly placed + often times old fruits - food itself was quite bland. Croissants were not fresh, and they rarely had anything else if not for some bread and coffee cake - while the menu on the website boasts typical desserts, Sicilian brioches etc. You could ask for eggs but that’s it - and coffee quality was poor. All in all, on an island where it is tough to reach spots in general and nothing much is offered, you’d ideally want to be in a hotel that offers all comforts, and this was not it. It was also quite tough to get drinks at the pool bar cause, other than a bartender issue they were having, their pricing for drinks was completely off. They charged us 18€ for one G&T with Hendrick’s gin (which they consider “premium”). While 2 G&Ts with Hendrick’s Gin at the lounge bar down the road (Le Cale) costed us 18€ in total. On a more positive note, the hotel restaurant was very good. Great gourmet food and good selection overall. This is also why we were expecting the same quality for breakfast. But nope, it’s almost like the 2 meals were handled by different restaurants altogether. Overall, I paid a very reasonable price for a week off-season (ish) so these shortcomings notwithstanding it was OK. However, I would not go back - especially for the price charged during peak season - as there are many less known spots on the island with much more attention to details and better guest experience.

A real gem of a hotel

Vulcano doesn't quite get the high praise of it's Aeolian sisters, and that is a real shame. There is much more to this island than volcanic history and the best hotel on Vulcano is the Eros Hotel. Lorena, and her team, (Hi J), are really lovely to stay with and are really great as a local resource to travelers like ourselves who were visiting these islands for the first time. Everything was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you are going to the Aeolian islands make sure to visit Vulcano and stay here, we found it to be truly lovely.
